Mike....I blame Lothar....he send me nightly PM's trying to get me back on the heritage train. When are you due to rip?

Well I just came home with 3 boxes and started ripping before my coat was off...lol. Last year I didn't get my first box until October and was left way behind. This year it feels good to be a part of it right from the start.

I really like the yellow variations I think it is a nice touch. I do need help with the lingo though. What is the difference between a chrome and a refractor? From my 3 boxes I pulled:

    THC 5- 0327/1958
    THC 17-0439/1958
THC 28- 180/558 (IS THIS THE REFRACTOR?)
    THC 49- 0064/1958
    THC 63- 0197/1958
    THC 77- 022/1958
    THC 91- 0295/1958

Are the cards to 1958 the chrome and the card to 558 the refractor? I did not get an auto but I did get a GU of Reyes

I pre-ordered a couple of boxes from ebay and the seller notified me that he shipped them last Thursday. I have my fingers crossed that they will show up tommorow.

Bunker...great to have you with us!! If you want to see madness, wait for all the retail hunts! Don't forget the pillow isle!

Yes refractors are numbered to 558..they should show some nice colors in the light too! From what I have seen they have been
pulling much easier than the odds on the packs.

    Not good.

Just a quick checklist update. Kaz Matsui of the Rockies should be card #84 in place of Eric Berdard of the Orioles.

Hi folks, while waiting for a retail case, bought a hobby box. Here's what I got:
    12 sp's
    1 a-rod
    4 mantles
    clubhouse collection bat piazza
    2 yellow team
    2 yellow names
    2 flashbacks
    1 nap
    2 then now (a mantle)
3 chromes #/1958 (nobody special - a team card! why the heck would they ruin the chrome set with team cards! )

All in all, 30 special cards which is pretty good for a heritage box (even if 5 of them were the dreaded mantle/arod inserts). I must say I like the cards but the quality is really crappy. I bet 30% of them have some sort of stray printer dots in the solid color portions of the cards.

The a-rod cards are totally out of place, but at least the mantles have a '58 look and feel.

    Hey guys,

I just finished an 11 box break. Here is want I need to complete my master set:

    8 yellow name, 40, 41, 58, 87 yellow name, 95, 98 yellow name, 103, 108 yellow team name, 139, 194, 321, 339, 437, 491, 492

I am looking to trade for these remaining 16 I need.

I have 96 extra SPs, so I could help fill someone else's want list.

I am also willing to trade some chrome, chrome refractors, inserts or GU cards to fill help fill my set.

    Please let me know

How many boxes have you ripped to get those?
  • Options
    Josephcb09Josephcb09 Posts: 286 ✭✭
I ripped a total of 11 boxes from 2 different cases.

I am just finishing up with my sorting, but seeing some of the other breaks I think I did pretty well.

  • Options
    Hell yeah you did.

I am thinking about getting another case, just to rip and flip. I think I could probably turn a decent profit. Any thoughts?

oh man, nice ink!!! Ive got my list compiled and like I thought, I have a ways to go. I have ripped 8 boxes and still need:

    6 NAP's
    1 TN
    20 Mantles...these have poor coallation
    34 SP's
    10 Yellow Var.

Next step is to see what SP doubles I have and then to trade. Are those autos for trade????

The autos aren't for trade. I usually keep a couple autographs with my set.

Everything else is availible for trade, if it helps with my remaining 16 short prints.

OK, Folks here is my contribution.

I don't think it's realistic or even conceivable for me to try anything but the master set, so here is what I have of the "extras" that I'm putting up for trade for SP's. My list of trade material is followed by some questions about the set if anybody can answer them.

    Morneau Clubhouse Collection Bat
    Berra Clubhouse Collection Bat

    Alexis Gomez Chrome
    Luke Scott Chrome
    Chris Roberson Chrome
    Jason Bay All Star Chrome
    Carlos Lee Chrome

    Andre Ethier Refractor

    Preston Wilson Yellow Team
    Miguel Cairo Yellow Name

I also have some '06 Chrome that I have to dig up if anybody is interested and an '05 Luis Ramirez Chrome as well.

If you are interested, please PM me and I'll let you know what I need. At this point, I should probably just PM you back with my SPs since it would be a smaller list. I also have a few dup SP's

Now to my questions. I saw the list and, through the kindness of Paul sending the checklist, had some questions about the variations. It looks like all the yellow variations are cards 108 and below. Mind you, I only have opened two boxes so far, but I did notice some players with yellow teams in the higher numbers. Are these their regular cards? The list is below of what I have. The reason I ask is because other players on the same team in the higher numbers don't have yellow teams. Was this done in the true '58 version?

    Adam Everett (125) Yellow team
    Matt Diaz (355) Yellow team
    Ben Zobrist (297) Yellow team
    Maicer Izturis (325) Yellow team
Jeff Weaver (180) Yellow team - Likewise with the Piazza card, somebody at Topps doesn't like Weaver as well. Not the most flattering photo.

Any help would be appreciated with the question and if anybody is interested in the extra cards, please let me know.

    Kurt

There are no traditional checklist cards. The team checklists have don't have the checklists for the teams, they are the checklists for the entire set.

Just looking at eBay, Chrome are selling (in lots) anywhere from $2.50 - $4.00 a piece depending on which stars are included. Refractors are a little more. Makes collecting those sets very bearable.

I just got notice from DAC that they charged my card - and it shipped today.

That doesn't really get me upset - since when I get....I get it.

I wouldn't count on retail being the same as hobby just yet. Regular topps was a bit different than hobby.

OUCH! I got skunked on a case of Heritage - no ink, no black refractors. So, I picked up two more boxes today. I got a refractor and a Group C Clubhouse Collection from two boxes.

On the good side I got about a dozen SPs I still need for my set. I'll be posting my trade list tonight.

I have busted 5 boxes so far all from the same case and this is what I have to show so far. No Ink, 3 Refractors, 9 Chrome, 1 GU Jersy and 1 GU Bat. I still am not close to puting the base set together and I have probably 700-800 duplicates. Any hoo here is a scan of my better pulls:

EDIT: I would like to get my hands on a Cinncinati Redlegs felt. I have these to trade: LA Dodgers, Washington Senators, St Louis Cardinals x 2, Baltimore Orioles.
