Those were the days huh
In the old days the talk was much less of profit and more of education. A?G was big and that filled the board to about %20. Mint products took up another 20, giveaways were common, as was high-end auctions. FBL was coming into the picture so that was beaten bloody, and the fishing lure had us LOL. Helping others was another big part of the forum. i.e. NYFF fund for one and a guys teeth was another
It's still a fast paced hard hitting in your face board that is full of great info.

I joined on the "old" forum only about three months before the transition to the new one. Even though I had been using the internet a long time, I did not know there was a place for coin discussions and I was very excited about finding it. Totally rekindled my interest in coins and made it possible for me to meet a bunch of nice people I would otherwise not have known. A place to talk about coins 24/7 - can't beat it. The members make it great.
Old-timer stories... Scottieo and his 1804 dollar that got "lost" at a construction site, Hendrixcat and his dental issues. I vividly remember a lady signing up just after the new board started who had bought some great PCGS/NGC slabbed coins from some dealer and wanted to know how she did. The coins were great (I'm checking my old PMs she sent me to verify) - MS67 McKinley gold $1, multiple MS65 Saints, PF67 Shield nickel and others. Turns out when she wanted to sell back to the dealer, the offer was 25% less than she had paid a couple years earlier and she was sick about it. She needed the money for medical bills. She didn't stick around the boards though. I wonder if she held on to them because she'd probably be in good shape now.
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

I remember the old board a bit,also remember helping to pay for teeth.
If I remember right,I am member#101 or so.It use to say at the bottom of the page.
I'm still here and I ain't going anywhere.
I've sure spent alot of time spaced out.
One of the things I liked the most(besides coins) was "Coinalot,and the Kings court".
