  • << <i>Why are people buying these? These will be for sale all year, right? High mintage also, right?image >>

Because the pre-issue price goes away in a couple of months!!!
They will be more expensive after that.
  • I just spoke to the mint CS dept.
The lady said that there may be a problem with the online ordering system.
She was in the process of replacing the order manually for me when automagically the existing order changed status to "in process"!

She was surprised too with what happened.

So, whoever has a "suspended" notice, check it again.

    Actually, it's Feb. 12th.

    Cut Off Date

  • I did get an order confirmation email from the Mint, and it didn't say anything about the order being "suspended".

I really hate it when there's conflicting info image

I ordered again, so I now have 2 orders of each one suspended. Maybe I will get both when the smoke clears which is ok with me,

Does anyone know if the mint ships first come first serve in most instances.

Is that their policy, in other words?

    << <i>

    << <i>Took me about 15 minutes.

Be sure to check your order history and click the line item for todays purchase. Read thru it carefully.

I noticed mine had a note about my order being suspended.

Not sure what that's all about but i'll be checking in to it shortly.

    What's up with that???

    Others?????????imageimageimageimage >>

I think all of them started out like this. Mine was suspended also but check it later and it should change to "in process".
  • I just now placed an order for the Jamestown coins, almost forgot they went on sale today. Went straight to my order history, and it shows suspended. I'll check on it later tonight to see if there's a change, but I'm not too worried.

Mine still says "On Hold".....which I believe is typical in the early going.

Mine changed from "suspended" to "in process". it never said "on hold".

You might want to call CS and inquire. ( 1-800-872-6468 )

The Mint's special limited issues with the Anniversary sets seem to have gotten everyone's attention.

It sounds like people are keeping their heads and are not pursuing the Jamestown coins for "investment."

But just in case anyone's tempted, be it known that modern commems have only appreciated when people were distracted or disgruntled when they came out, the designs were unappealing, or otherwise not many people bought them, resulting in low mintages (e.g., the Jackie Robinson MS). Sounds as though lots of folks are buying this one, though, so expect a relatively high mintage for a commem, and little appreciation in the secondary market over time.

I ordered 1 complete set, and I will be ordering (I think) 5 sets of 1 unc and 1 proof gold each. It seems buyers are willing to pay more for unopened, so I will make 5 separate orders and pay the $4.95 each time.

Speculation is fun, and hey I always have 2 months to cancell.

    LOL

The mintage is 500,000 all products combined. How can the mintage numbers be any higher than this?

500,000 is a high mintage for a commemorative. If it reaches this number expect them to sell below mint purchase price after 1 year.
  • I'm getting one each of silver, and one 5 dollar unc., just to stay current with my collection. I'm not too concerned about an investment with these, I just like to look at them.
  • took about 3 minutes total to order. 2 each of the silver

Premise: Try finding the following *statement on the U.S Mint Website.

I got my glossy Mint-U.S. Mail Brochure on the Jamestown 400th Anniversary Commemorative Coin Program today.

As I looked it over, I was impressed with the professional presentation of this most important historical event.

The coins are truly "magnificent" as per Public law 108-289.

Upon closer review I checked the fine print.

    It read:

*"Watch for a limited-edition special product with the Jamestown uncirculated silver dollar in the Spring catalog! Please check our Website for more information as it becomes available.

The Jamestown proof silver dollar will be included in the 2007 United States Mint American Legacy Collection™ later this year.

This product will be limited to 50,000 units."

Will the gold commemoratives be the winner in this program?

Your thoughts and comments will be most appreciated!

Seems like at least a reasonable thing to commemorate. I don't get the lower shoreline field on the silver reverse. It blows the design miserably. The dud's hairline is also noticeably far more receded on the gold than the silver.

Anyone else believe the gold will be the key to this commemorative issue???

    From Jan 22nd Coin World............................................

The U.S. Mint plans to issue later in the year a 2007 American Legacy Collection set that will contain the Proof Jamestown and Little Rock silver dollars, along with the Proof versions of the circulating coin denominations from cent through dollar struck at the San Francisco Mint with the S Mint mark.

The set will include the Proof versions of the circulating coin denominations. The American Legacy Collection set is expected to be limited to a maximum of 50,000 sets.

The U.S. Mint also is developing for release later in the year another limited-edition set that would include the Uncirculated 2007-P Jamestown silver dollar. The Mint has not disclosed what other pieces will be a part of the set, the set's name or what the maximum edition would be.

Based on previous years when the Mint has issued Coin and Currency sets, the maximum issue has been 50,00 sets, but Mint officials said the 2007 Jamestown set woth Uncirculated silver dollar could possibly have a lower edition. Coin and Currency sets usually contain at least one coin plus a related item produced by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing(an intaglio print or vignette from the BEP archives).

  • Both of my silver dollars are listed as in stock and reserved.
  • I will be buying the $1 silver coin and not the gold coin. I just do'nt like the design on the $5 gold coin! image

Actually, I was thinking that a proof silver VA quarter and a proof Jamestown buck would make a nice little "set".
  • How in the heck does this guy have the $5 gold uncirculated IN HAND already?
    $5 gold uncirculated jamestown commemorative??

He must have attended the ceremony in Jamestown where they were selling these on site. Apparently the mint director was there for autographs as well.
