<< <i>Well, I just received my 10 pc. Jamestown Silver Uncs.

They looked great to the naked eye, until I pulled out my lighted loupe.

I found is a tiny black spot just below the Indian's lower lip.

I was amazed to find this same flaw on 8 of the 10 coins!!!!image

Please check out the "artist rendering" below.

I Photoshopped that damn black spot to give you guys an idea of the location and approx. size.

It's hard to see my faux black spot as the Mint pic shows a very dark shadow under his lower lip.

Needless to say, you should get the idea.

Can anyone tell me what I'm looking at???(Wish I had that USB microscope)

    Thanks in advance.

ps. I'm sending all 10 back for complete replacement.

Well, 3 weeks later, and I just got my 10 replacement Jamestown silver Uncs yesterday.

I must say the turn around time was very reasonable.

The best part about my replacements?????

They are top notch!!! No pitting on any of them!!! Nice full strikes and satin smooth fields.....REAL beauties!!!

I would not be surprised if there are at least 4 MS70's in the bunch.image

    I'll keep you posted.

There will not be a second special set released with the Jamestown coinage due to high demand for the commemorative.

See scanned article from April 9th Coin World below for more...................................

Will anyone be buying The American Legacy Set?????

That's good for the mint but sad for those that purchased the coin since they'll be high mintages worth bullion in the future. They're nice looking coins though.

15,826 isn't as sad as 39,464 of the Proofs. image

Well, that would explain the PCGS graded ones on e-bay selling for mint pricing. Although there are a lot of 70's out there to make up for it. I saw a PR70 silver go for $85 a week ago.

Too bad it's still a open series since they've only sold 55k out of 100k max it will be much higher. I wonder why the March NN had them at 16,248? Even at 15k that's not going to be any type of key coin for moderns.

I was very tempted to bid on a Jamestown $5 PCGS-69 yesterday but decided not to. It was sold for $182, way below the Mint's issued price.

I am betting that a big percentage of the big sales are people buying hundreds trying the flip game and I bet they are getting hurt pretty bad right now. This is not 2006 anymore. There will only be one big winner in 2007.

I wouldn't doubt it, the SF coins could be had on the bay for under $200 but really they are neat coins if you want to own gold since it's approaching $700 fast. The $5 gold for $182 sounds good to me.

The anniversary reverse proof plat of course. That is if they even do one.

    Thanks BECOKA

If I were a Mint director, I would push for a $5 Jamestown Reverse Proof image and with a limited quantity of 10,000 selling for $270 each.

I would be a buyer, I like this design and actually paid mint pricing for the ones I have.

I like the design too....and paid for several Jamestown commemoratives at mint pricing!!!!!

Reverse proof Jamestown???....that would be very cool!!!

Without fractional buffaloes on the mint schedule, it looks like Plat Chat is on the horizon!!!

Can you guess the 2007 reverse proof......It's got to be the APE Proof!!!!

    Time will tell.......

  • Latest results in for my Jimmytown's. 1 MS70 $5 and 1 MS70 $1, the rest were 69's. I'm pleased with getting 2 70's. The silver unc's were all a bit rough.

For what its worth - the Jamestown Commem's are much more interesting than the SF Old Mint commem's.

Anyone know what the final mintages of these were ?
