Guys,

After looking back over this rip and thinking about how I've been wanting to get started on a PSA high grade football set (but couldn't figure out which one) ----- I have decided to build one of the most important and underrated sets in the hobby -------

... 1989 Score ....

I know, it's not that old -- but it's a fantastic little set and I love it for several reasons, including clean design (gotta love the colored borders) and a great cache of HOF and future HOF, including some key RC's for the "modern era" ....

If any of you guys are willing to trade/send me your '89 Score that you think would have a shot at a PSA 9 I would be very interested. I'd happily return the favor with any of the other packs we busted or any other set/players you're working on ....

I want to thank all of the Members that have sent me there Packer cards. I got over 10 shipments but did not get letters in all of them to individaully thank everyone.

To the person who sent me the Johnny Holland Rookie from 1989. That card should be a 10. Scanned it. 51/49 L/R 52/48 T/B and under the loupe no marks on the corners. Back is also 51/49 all the way around.

Greg, you did rather well with most of your pulls aside from the '84 and '80 packs. Great job!

By the way, anyone wanting to send me their '85 Topps Football cards...I'll accept them gladly.

Tom, that '89 Score is a fun set....I know that a couple of folks have completed the entire set in all 10s, so I'm not sure that it will be a big challenge. But, sure should be fun! Congrats!

I agree -- the '89 Score Football set shouldn't be near as tough as say, '84 Donruss baseball, but I figure it'll be fun and more easily attainable while I build my '60 Topps baseball PSA 8 and '84 Donruss high-grade ...

Just need to identify which hockey set I'm going to assemble and I'll have at least one from each sport and plenty to keep me busy!

I've tossed around the idea of a hockey set as well....leaning towards that '85 set as I like the overall design. But, I'm waiting until I finish the hockey bust to see if any particular issue makes my toes tingle.

Well, the OPC is worth more, but the Topps is a lot smaller set. Plus, the Topps set only misses out one 'important' card as the Al McInnish rookie is the main one missing (along with a Mario Lemieux League Leader card) from the set.

From the Pop Reports, I see that there are about 2600 cards or so for Topps graded out and 3700 for the OPC cards. But, lots of the Topps cards have only 1 or 2 graded overall while the OPC pop reports show lots of 3 or 4 graded cards. So, looks like both sets would be a heck of a challenge. We'd probably have to submit our own stuff for lots of the cards.

Tom, goes to show that those '85 Football are VERY tough. I'm surprised I'm at the point that I am with all PSA 9s and one PSA 10!
