The Official Denver ANA Show Info Thread - Downtown, Restraunts, things to do etc

No one has done a comprehensive thread yet about Denver so being a native I thought I would take a shot and get some info out there for everyone attending. Several people have pm'd me asking for restraunt info, ideas to do in Denver etc, so here it is all in one thread:

Flying In

DIA Website

DIA is located a good distance from downtown Denver. Mapquest lists it as 27 miles and taking 33 minutes but I think it might take a little bit longer than that.

The Show

Dates: August 16-19

Location: Colorado Convention Center

Things to Do

If you are coming for the Pre show which is held the week before you don't want to miss the Denver Grand Prix which is held downtown on August 10-13th.

If you are a sports nut the Colorado Rockies (Baseball) are playing Wednesday and Thursday evenings of the ANA show. Coors Field is beautiful and one of the nicest stadiums in my opinion and is also located downtown.

The Colorado Rapids (soccer) play Saturday evening (of the pre show) and Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium (where the Broncos play) is also a nice new stadium. Saturday evening of the ANA show the Denver Broncos (football) play a pre season game against the Tennesse Titans at 7pm.

If you love music and especially Rock the Red Hot Chili Peppers are playing a sold out concert at the Pepsi Center Friday evening. Tickets are sold out on ticketmaster but you might be able to find some one ebay.

Some of these attractions are also downtown

Drive to Colorado Springs. The downtown (where the ANA museum is located) has quite a few nice places to visit.

If you want to go to an amusement park, go to Six Flags Elitch Gardens. It's not great, but at least it has some halfway decent rollercoasters and other rides. Lakeside recently had its old rollercoaster break down and strand a bunch of people.

The bachelor party will be held in a dangerous area with history of purse snatchings, beatings, muggings, and the like. Not your cup of tea.
