Hey YOU, next time you're about to make fun of someone, why not try to help them instead?

Sorry that I accidentally clicked on this thread before I had posted to it.
Hopefully, the temporary, though unintentional intrigue was effective, though.
This is NOT directed at anyone in particular here, but it IS aimed at many.
Frequently, forum members make fun of others (here, on Ebay, other places, etc.), most of whom are not nearly as knowledgeable or well informed. Many of the targets are, no doubt, jerks who don't deserve any help. Often, however, the butts of the jokes are merely people who don't know better and really could benefit from our help. For example, you might be surprised at the number of Ebayers who have thanked me for politely telling them that they were out to lunch in their coin descriptions/grades, facts, etc. In many cases, I found out about those Ebayers from posts/links that were posted here, making fun of them.
So, next time you're getting ready to poke fun at someone, why not take a moment and try to help them instead. While not as much fun, the latter doesn't usually take any more time or effort than the former, and it might have beneficial consequences. Try it, you might even like it.

<< <i>Also, the threads posted here tend to spread the notion that everyone on eBay is either uninformed or a scam artist. Believe it or not, I have found there are a lot of eBayers who are very knowledgeable and yes, many of them do not even know about these forums, or have never bothered visiting them. That's right, the membership here are not the only informed collectors/dealers out there!

Normally, I'd call you a weenie, but I still laugh my ass off every time I think about the way you jacked Iwog around.

It would be more fun to make fun of him for buying something from finderskeepersofomaha.

Well, I was deeply hurt. But, some free gold would perk me up a bit.

Does anyone else remember the helpful suggestions many offered to Scottieo about his 1804 silver dollar? He was a troll who didn't deserve the help, but some members kept on trying to help him until it became all too clear he was playing with them.

His old wound never healed.
This Ebay listing link to listing of "1895" Morgan Dollar was recently discussed here. It might very well be a scam - the initial images were fuzzy, bidder's identities are being kept private, the coin is uncertified, most Proof 1895 dollars aren't that heavily circulated, etc. However....
I have been in touch with the seller, who apparently has received some very rude emails (one or more of which I am guessing were from forum members). After I told her that her listing looked suspicious and my reasons for thinking it, she added clearer images to her listing and sounds as if she is on the up and up.
While I realize that the chances of the coin being an authentic 1895 Morgan dollar are extremely remote - at quick glance the "5" in the date looks wrong and I see no evidence that the coin was struck as a Proof - I don't think the seller is a scammer. I think she believes she has a genuine 1895 dollar.
Perhaps I'm wrong, as I often am. However, as long as it doesn't harm me, financially or otherwise, I'd rather give someone the benefit of the doubt and be wrong, than assume (and treat them as if) they are a scammer, a troll, etc. and be wrong about that.

<< <i>In an effort to get this thread back on track, here is a very recent example.......

I find it very suspicious that all all feedback for the seller in regards to selling have been made private. <period
But at same time, I would never waste time making fun of someone new to the hobby, I still have all my mistakes laying around here from when i started out
