BigE - why, on earth, would you only say MS65 on that coin?image

I see nothing in the images which would preclude an MS67 grade. Either way, unless the images - which, along with the excellent taste of the owner, are all we have to go by - are highly inaccurate, it's too nice/good looking for an MS65.

I say 65 because of the luster, not booming like most 67's-------------------------BigE

If every mark I see is due to the wealth of scratchs on the plastic holder I could accept an MS68 grade without any problem--if there are tiny marks actually on coin, MS-67 is OK. It's a very eye appealing example--not a "monster toner"---- but top notch, and beautiful!! image

    I'd say MS67 too.

MS67. The leg is clean--nice strike, articulated thumb. I don't see any reason (from a scan) that it wouldn't be a 67.

It is in the "Oh My God" RANGE and plastic just doesn't matter. Sorry I could not offer more help on this one.

Id say 67 beacuse there are only a few 68s and that coin seems all there.

The Oregon is my favorite of ALL US coins.

    Very Nice

Nice color and luster I'm going with MS66 but, that purple scares me. Not just on your coin dizzyfoxx but most coins. Probably just my inexperience talking.image

I actually image the purplish-plum tone. Along with the greens, golds, and what I call "platinum" color, it makes for a nice array of original and lustrous color. I understand where you're coming from though, when I see coins strictly with a darker blue and darker purple and no other coloring to really speak of, I sometimes question them also. But of course, that is not to say they're not originalimage It is typically when I see coins with "blues" and "purples" that are NOT holdered by one of the top grading companies, is when I wonder why it's not slabbed...image

This is a very attractive, original coin.

I'd grade it MS-66. It has got great eye appeal. The only thing that keeps me from calling it a 67 is a number of very small marks. But then again I've seen these coins in MS-65 or better holders with noticeable marks on the Indian's shoulder and legs. So anything can happen.

I think PCGS gave this one a MS67. This date/mint normally comes very well struck and highly lustrous,
and this example appears to have only very (s)light marks on the high points and the color is nice.
My favorite commemorative coin and this one is a keeper.

I guessed MS67 too, due to the coin's great appearance and the collecting tastes/preferences of its poster. Realistically, however, there is no way to tell for certain from the images whether the coin is an MS64 or an MS68.

While we would much perfer otherwise, we simply can't see via images, what we can see in person - it's a fact of numismatic life.
