It must have taken the patience of Job to have carved THAT on the reverse of a small cent. I was thinking large cent when I first saw it.

Not sure yet. I have several groups I need to get organized, imaged and scheduled. I pulled this one out of a group and imaged it ahead of the rest just because it's so damned cool I wanted to share it.

That's a real neat engraved cent.
It should bring a good price on Ebay.
The positive response here is an indication of what people will be thinking when they see it on Ebay.
This is much better than most love tokens, that have only initials or a couple words. A lot of effort was put into it.

It'll bring at least $150 on Ebay (Probably more), as long as you PM me with the link to the auction image

Carved Coins often go in this range and much higher, especially ones such as this. That is, providing, that the right collectors know that they're for sale.

Well, it won't be going to eBay. An offer came in and the consignor has decided to take it.

That would be a breach of etiquette since it's a private treaty sale, but it was enough that he didn't hesitate to accept it.

BTW, I had no idea this thing had this much value. I figured it for a novelty item worth only a few dollars.

if it's not the novelty of it on a cent, there's a medal from the 1939-1940 Golden Gate International Exposition catalogued as HK-479 with the Protestant version of the prayer. the size is approximately that of a quarter.

Very cool coin; would love to know the history behind it: when it was done, was it a gift, who was the carver.
