    It may seem a bit "common" to most, I guess - but the coin that started me collecting was a 1916-D Winged Liberty. It was a full Good. I was 8 and it was unattainable, but still so neat. Someday, maybe.

    As my coin-self has matured, I think I'd also like to have a truly nice RD MS Flying Eagle. Still love them (but no budget for them).

    Seriously? I never knew there were any graded that high. It's a good thing I wasn't there, I would've passed out! image

    What was the deal with it? For sale, auction, or just display?

    A 1939-S dime in PCGS/NGC/ANACS MS67FB.
    PCGS price guide is around $4000.00, trying to find one in full bands is the real challenge.

    A choice unc Brasher half doubloon would be nice. So far, the only known specimen is at the Smithsonian, but I'm hopeful another will surface.

    Out of the ones that are will beyond my reach would be a 1795 Small Eagle $5 gold piece or a 1915-S Octagonal $50 comemoritive gold piece. The one that would be in my reach is a nice original Proof 1880`s Morgan Dollar about PR62/63.

    The Half-Disme and a Flowing Hair Half-Dime are my other dream coins... the Flowing Hair will eventually be obtainable... I'm not sure about my other 2 dreams...

    a) An original AU Heraldic Eagle Bust $

    b) An MS 63 BN problem free Classic Large Cent with glistening luster (this will probably be the last coin I can find for my type set)

    c) Any Unc., original, problem free Draped Bust slabbed silver coin.

    All of the previously mentioned coins are certainly dream coins and I'd love to have any one of them, however the first coin that comes to mind is to locate a very choice 1898-O Micro O Barber Half Dollar.

    One was discovered recently in a strong VG 10 state and I know that there must be others out there somewhere. Finding one in choice AU would be the pinnacle to my Barber set.

    At the moment I would say a J1508 Morgan pattern half dollar. The coin is unknown in any collection and probably doesn't exist but if it does it would look like thisimage

    An 1802 half dime.

    Unlike the so-called classic rarities, such as the 1804 dollar, 1913 V nickel, 1894 S dime, 1876 CC 20 cent piece, 1884-85 Trade dollars, with or without arrows seated coinage, etc., the 1802 half dime is a "real" coin with a tiny mintage that actually was released into circulation. To me, this is the true American classic rare coin.

    That would be another dream coin of mine. It's estimated there are only 35 known with many of them being really low grade coins, and only 8 of these grading higher than VF

    Actually, once the dream is realized, the target changes. The coin that you referenced when you start the thread is now old news. image

    The top of the "wish list" coin is an 1854-D $3 in original XF-40 condition. It will be difficult to find in my price range (ignore published prices--they are unrealistic)

    Impossible to assemble but the original Judas's 30 pieces of silver.

    Otherwise, I'd like an 1849 Double Eagle. A couple are suppose to still be out there somewhere so who knows?

    Or, a high grade mint state 1895 Morgan Dollar would hold me over.
