That set is just fantastic! I love the color of circulated silver... I love type coins that aren't only MS... they have been used... they are full of history... it's sets like that which really make me enjoy this hobby.
Congrats on such a fine display!

No, but seriously- that RE Bust half kicks butt!
That set is GREAT! I escpecially like the 3 cent pieces....nice job!
Great set. Thanks for sharing.
I think I might start one.
Jeremy, re: they are full of history... it's sets like that which really make me enjoy this hobby same here!
Barry, re: The only thing I don't like about the Dansco album is inclusion of the Commem and Silver Eagle. They aren't "real" coins. LOL! no, they're more like "medals", but then again, so are all of the modern proofs, aren't they?
1jester, Nic, Allegri, and Billboat, thanks, glad you like it!
Dog97, re: took some time & effort to build oh yes, started over 25 years ago, and still working.
FrattLaw, re: I am also working on the same set. It's about 50% finished good luck and take your time! Once it's "done," it's not really done, because then come the upgrades!
Barry, re: I wonder what percentage of those coins you bought slabbed and cracked out, and how many were raw to start with, I count 18 of the coins that were broken out of slabs, and another dozen or so that came from mint packaging, with the remainder acquired raw.
Dan1ecu, re: Your Walking Liberty half has a nice look to it - I like that kind of toning. Your 1954 proof quarter looks DCAM from the scan - nice! heh, that walker cost me a pretty penny, but wow, what a coin! the quarter is a decent CAM but don't know it it would DCAM.
Stman, re: Problem is I'm a new wave collector, and I can only evaluate the coins with big blown up scans.... through plastic of course.
Coppernicus, re: Now, I'll have to start one!! Such a great historical overview Go for it!
Lordmarcovan, re: I like the 1861 half dime best. Really? then why did you sell it to me?
Striker, re: I'm about 75% done with my Danso type set and am looking forward to when mine is complete. I remember when you started yours! 75% done already?!? Hope you're taking your time and not rushing to fill holes, trust me, once you're done, you will want to upgrade the "hurried up" ones! Post some pictures!
Cladiator, re: I escpecially like the 3 cent pieces thanks, they don't get much attention! Funny how everyone has their favorite coins, I'm surprised no one has mentioned the T2 SLQ yet..
BSqr, re: I think I might start one. How can you go wrong?

A couple of photo questions:
What light set up do you use?
Do you remove the plastic slides for the pics?
I'm just starting to experiment taking pics of my Morgan date set Dansco and the lighting is a little tricky, especially with the reflection from the slides.
Thanks.
Most of my pics are taken with a light from a shaded window coming from 2 o'clock position, and light from a Tensor desktop halogen lamp at about 10 o'clock. For the pics of the whole album I don't take the plastic slides out, you can see a bit of reflection in some of the pics, but overall you get used to taking pictures through the plastic, much like with slabs. Of course if you want to take closeup pics of one coin, it's better to remove the slides and maybe take the coin out, but try to minimize that.
In fact I rarely move the slides except to add or remove a coin, and then it's a whole production of gently pushing the coin down away from the slide (edit: and doing the same for the other coins in that row), sloooowly sliding the slide, carefully pushing the coins away from the back slide, slooowly sliding the back slide, using a clean piece of paper to gently push the coin out of the hole onto another clean piece of paper, then taking a picture or studying the coin or whatever, and then replacing the coin by reversing the steps for installation, all to avoid slide marks, especially with the larger thicker coins. It's not as much as a concern with the smaller coins like the small cents, half dimes, dimes, 3cent coins, etc, they are much thinnner than the page so there's not as much danger. I'm really careful with the proof half dollars and all the dollars!
Hope this helps, now let's have a look at that set of yours!

Ok Baley, you've inspired me.
Here's the last page of my Dansco (#7171) Morgan date set with each m/m. I'm putting together a circulated Morgan date set in matching grades. My goal is to build a set that looks like it could have been put together from pocket change back in the late 1800's to early 1900's. So no blast white coins and hopefully only all originals. When it's done I'll post the whole album.
SDcoll, that's going to be a nice looking set of dollars if they are all so original..
