It's a fun set to put together. I have one AU that fits nicely in with the other VF's (and lower grades). Three more holes to fill (1880, 1886, and 1895) and it's done. Kind of looks like a set someone 100 years ago would put together. With all of the Morgans you have in your collection, it should be easy for you to do
It's Baley's fault ...he's got me hooked on taking coin pics. Here's my small cents...not nearly as nice as his. (Sure is fun to see your coins like this )
numismatic2004, great start! You're a lot further along with your Type Set than many of the more senior members, some of whom focus on a particular series and have no examples of some of the interesting US types available.
The three cent silver is one of the series I would love to begin. The piece that really got me was the Hawaii Commemrative, not a cheap piece. Very Sweet. Congratultions.
Barry: SAEs are real coins. Come over sometimes I'll show how real they are! :-) Please don't bash my series I don't go around saying your Wife is ugly.

From dictionary.com: coin n. A small piece of metal, usually flat and circular, authorized by a government for use as money.
Tell me Dan. Where have you used a(n) SAE as money? And while on the subject, I don't go around saying your sister is easy.
P.S. Remind me to check this thread for your response in September
coin noun a piece of metal or rarely of some other material (as leather or porcelain) certified by a mark or marks upon it as being of a specific intrinsic or exchange value; specifically: such a piece issued by governmental authority to circulate as lawful money
Just because they normally don't circulate, doesn't mean they can't circulate.
I have my set complete minus two liberty seated dollars and the Gold, Most of the silver is Rainbow, Its a lot of fun trying to upgrade when I can afford it. Always a work in Progress, Nice set Bailey. Allen
<< <i>Tell me Dan. Where have you used a(n) SAE as money? >>
I'm not Dan, but I have spent a SAE before. I carried one for a pocket piece for a while, and on my last day of grad school I used it to buy a cup of coffee. True story!
I'm glad you all have enjoyed the set, I will need to make some new pictures that include some more recent upgrades.
Also happy to hear that so many members have been inspired to start an album type set, and agree that it's a fun diversion from slabs (in fact, I understand that lots of us liberate coins FROM slabs for some of the more difficult spaces in the album! )
If you have images of your set, please post, we all enjoy seeing others' "works in progress"
Bill, coming along nicely, we'll have to bring our books to an upcoming SD show (there are sooo many ) Until then, I'll try to get the album out of the bank in the next couple of weeks, I'm hoping to score an upgrade today on the Bay and really have been meaning to make some new images..
Johnny, that's the third time in this thread you've given me the ultimate compliment possible on these boards (and have gotten it in a couple of others, notably the 1807 half dollar one ), but this is the first time I've received the coveted Al Bundy graphic!
I love your type set, Baley! I'm fairly new to collecting and I've started working on my type set. I have 37 of the coins, but they are not nearly as nice as the coins you have. I'm jealous.

I'm making good progress on my album. Hopefully, I'll be ready to post pics by the end of the year, if not sooner. I figure anything I can't find beforehand, I'll find in Baltimore in December.
INCREDIBLE POST! I can't let this one slip away. Heck, I haven't posted in months cos' I don't have anything to say about the price of gold. I've been working on my type set for about a year now. 50% there! Took some time off to lurk on this board and not buy! I'll make sure the ebay seller I hit before tonight is over sends you a thank you card! Congrats on that awesome collection!

I plan on doing the gold page. I'm also working on upgrading everything I can to atleast Very Fine/Extra Fine and Proof for many of the modern issues.
[edit] BTW Baley, what grade are the coins in your type set?
jom
they range from EF40 to PR68, with most grades in between being represented at least once.
Varlis, glad you like it!
Jom, I cant sell that 1930-S quarter; I paid "stupid money" so now I guess I'm buried in it.
(and probably will be buried with it
