PRESS RELEASE: Jade Coin Acquires Major Large Cent Collection

Ladies and gentlemen of the forum, we are pleased to announce that Jade Rare Coin has just completed the purchase of a major collection of early copper cents known as "The Holey Hoard". Terms of the sale were "cash up front". The sales price of the collection is being withheld until further notice at the request of the seller, who operates a booth at the local flea market on the 3rd Sunday of every month.

The collection of holed large cents, 19 pieces in all, contains some highly sought after dates. The highlight of the collection is an 1844 with a hole at 5:00. To give you some perspective of it's true rarity, the 1844 is the only late date holed large cent missing from the landmark Lord Marcovan Collection. In fact, agents of Jade Rare Coin are in the process of contacting Lord Marcovan representatives to discuss the possibility of a sale of the 1844 by private treaty.

Please, we ask all forum members to refrain from telephone inquiries regarding the purchase of these rare coins. The collection will be on display the Baltimore ANA show next week. The display will be adjacent to the display of 1913 nickels and will be protected by 24 hour armed security guards, laser beam perimiter fields, surveillance cameras, guard dogs and Czechoslovakian attack ferrets.

I trust....oh ye Jadecoin......that such a prestiegous procurement will not leave you lacking in funds for active participation at Baltimore! It would be a real shame were you to lump your eggs all into one basket......and not allow for lesser coins for which you may never see the like of again!

it's obviously what's know as a chrono-holistic type set. the hole in each coin is supposed to represent a specific time, w/ a hole in the middle for the clock face. ie. from left to right top to bottom, you have 5 of the 13 coins, 1:00, the centerpiece, 5:00, 11:00 & 4:00.

these sets are extremely rare! (in fact, you may have the only known partial set). inclusion in a brand-new pcgs & ngc registry category is expected to be annoucned very soon.

IMPORTANT UPDATE

We regret to inform the ladies and gentlemen of this forum that the ANA exhibit of the Holey Hoard has been cancelled due to the unfortunate loss of our lead Czechoslovakian attack ferret. We are told that the ferret inadvertently crossed one of the laser beam perimeter fields this morning and took heavy fire from the armed guards. With the absence of our lead attack ferret, we fear that security will be too inadequate to continue with the display. However, we are told by ANA officials that the display of 1913 nickels will continue as planned.

For those of you who inquired about the original terms of the acquisition, it was as follows: (2) $20 bills, (1) $10 bill and (4) $1 bills.

But wait!! There's more!! I have it on good authority that here were originally 20 holed cents in the Holey Hoard. My source is a reknowned Far Eastern fabricator of semi-genuine 1804 Bust dollars, almost authentic 1878-CC Trade dollars and other sought after numismatic rarities. So, I suggest that you contact Bowers and Merena which will jump at the chance to offer a bazillion dollar reward for the opportunity to reunite the lost Holey Cent with the others. I predict that this holey relic will be found at the next major convention.

And where does one find a replacement for one of the Czechoslovakian Attack Ferrets? I suppose you'll have to settle for plain old Austrian Aardvarks, or somethin'.

I still lack the 1844. I had two, but my dad likes 1844 coins. So I gave them to him, for his keychain, thinking they'd be easy to replace. Wrong! I'm still 1844-less.
