I'll admit, I'm a little angry about the Vikings letting JJ go. I don't think 10 games is enough of a sample size to just give up on the guy. I know with this defense we're in a "Win it now" scenario but who cares if he sits at #3 on the depth chart? I would concede if we got something great in return but that didn't even happen.
We have failed again with a long term solution at the QB position.
For what it's worth on McCarthy - I formed my opinion solely on what I heard about him from people familiar with the organization. I heard stuff like.. "They have no faith in the kid." and "He's stupid - incapable of learning the offense." and "He's lost the team's confidence." and that they were "moving away from him". If they keep losing players it's going to be a long 2026 though regardless and keeping McCarthy on the roster was just going to turn that 5th Rd. into a nothing-with-fries after a few more weeks.
Well, it took less than three years for JJ McMarthy to move from a 10th overall pick in 2024 to a 5th rounder in 2027, thus justifying the harsh analysis of the PCGS Sports Forum. Combined with what's going on with Harbaugh and the Chargers it looks like for both men the pinnacle of their carreers was that Natty at Michigan.
Considering what's going on with the Vikings how much longer before Justin Jefferson wants out??

Shame on the Vikings for even drafting McCarthy in the first place, the sample size was 15 games or something on a run heavy big team against marginal opponents for 75% of the competition
I think they based it on a few big third down situations where he threw a very good completion percentage with very few mistakes
The Vikings are maybe a little more competent with their QB philosophy than the Browns

You and so many others. We've had this discussion before about players behavior and perhaps we don't always agree, but we have good intentions. Each player is going to exhibit their own behavior because of their own beliefs. The NFL has little if any control over it other than to scrap financial penalties from their paychecks. Caleb probably won't get fined for his behavior, but Luther Burden might take a hit for his exuberant TD celebration.
So you guys are looking for something non human in a QB? Can’t show pain or frustration after pulling a hammy, has to obey your strict moral and patriotic standards when on the sidelines. I’ll check with China and see if that robot who ran into a wall after breaking Bolts 100 meter record is fixed yet.
I don’t mind what they do. It’s not worth being offended. I’m just a silly doofus shouting RAH RAH for my team. Pro athletes have a culture all their own.

i'm not going to regurgitate my familiarity with Murray........everyone knows by now. i've seen almost every snap he's played in the NFL. my optimism was thru the roof when was in AZ. there was one season 4-5 years ago when Arizona started out 8-0 and he was in the MVP conversation. they folded in the 2nd half of that season, so did he, and it has been an avalanche ever since. it started getting really ugly at the end of his tenure in Arizona. bad play, tore his ACL, and when he returned it was not pretty. so ugly that a crap team decided to pay his exorbitant salary while he played for someone else.
my optimism wasn't as high when he went to Minny, but it was there. perhaps cautious optimism is a better way to describe it. new team, new scheme, new HC with a successful track record of whispering to quarterbacks, loads of ancillary talent on that side of the ball..........that was enough to at least keep me on the fence. i wanted to see what this change would bring. well, it took 11 offensive snaps in the Green Bay game for me to see things clearly. no change whatsoever. i said as much in a post after that game. it was a carbon copy of what things looked like during his dark days in Arizona.
he has the tools. he has the arm. he has the accuracy. even after destroying his ACL, he still has speed, quickness and agility. he just isn't freaking tall enough. as a result, nothing looks seamless after he takes the snap. when the ball doesn't leave his hand within 3-4 seconds, the play starts to look very unnerving. it looks like a man who is unable to see, and he's trying desperately to apply his athleticism to keep the play alive until he can. he has so many passes batted down that would not be if the ball left the hand of a taller quarterback. that's why Arizona (and now Minnesota) dial up a lot of of quick, short, sleep-inducing passes for him. get the ball out quickly while his receivers are still in his field of vision. there is a ton of dinking and dunking with Kyler. if you want to see him air the ball out consistently, you're going to be disappointed. it just doesn't happen.......because it can't. and if anyone says to me, "yeah but what about the long TD toss to Addison?" watch that play closely. it wasn't a superior pass. he literally heaved up a prayer and Addison made a play on the ball.
and here's the sad thing. i 1,000% believe that the only thing preventing Minnesota from legitimately contending for a trip to the Super Bowl this year is 4-5 more inches in Kyler Murray height. Minnesota's defense is nasty. i said this a week or two ago, and i'll say it again: Brian Flores is a hell of a coach. that guy can schematically dial up destructiveness unlike any other DC in the league. i saw it in the 2nd half against Green Bay, i saw it against my team, and i saw it against the Bucs. the Vikings are legit on that side of the ball. if i was an owner of a team needing a new skipper, i'd hand Flores a blank check. unbelievable that someone hasn't handed him the reigns in 5 years.
if i was a Vikings fan, i'd be looking at our 3-0 record with the sickest feeling in my abdomen

They did McCarthy a favor, as KOC’s offense is a hot mess and despite the BS spewed at the pressers yesterday by the GM and HC.
Kyler Murray is too small and terrible.
Brian Flores’ scheme is bailing them out because they’re not a quality team that will do anything in the playoffs, if they don’t collapse prior.
