I am sitting here watching the Patriots quarterback implode before my eyes. It looks like the sophomore jinx is alive and well. This kid couldn’t do anything in the first half.
He is a bad decision maker with major turnover issues at this point, he is regressing
Year 1 is always the league adjusting to you, year two is you having to adjust to the league
Patriots fans have seen this before. Promising quarterback early, dust after that.
We could blame Belichick who was terrible with young players late in his career. He killed their spirit over and over. Brady made his career; he didn’t. Now what is the excuse?
The excuse is Maye got to cherry pick the worst teams in the league last year and now that the schedule is harder he is a turnover machine with terrible decision making with throws

He is not that good
I guess we can compare him to Jamus Winston. When he played for Tampa he could make 4 okay plays, one good play and one great play. Then he’d turn the ball over, usually by interception, sometimes by fumble, which negated everything he’d accomplished.
When I saw him playing for the Giants, I knew they were doomed.

But Winston was / is a gunslinger, he would throw picks but he could move the ball down the field, Maye isn't moving the ball with authority whatsoever

Its still early and they have a rough schedule to start the year. His expectations were unrealistic with how soft the schedule was last year and now this year its not. A lot of people wrote Bryce Young off right away too. Their D wasnt exactly stopping the Jags either which put them in obvious pass situations a lot

The turning point was at the end of the second quarter. The Patriots had a chance to get it to 14-10, but Maye threw an unforced error interruption, which marked the end of the game.
With all of the talk about “easy schedules,” the Patriots did manage to beat Buffalo in the regular season last year. If they lose next Sunday, it will be back to the draft pick lottery.

man, i went to bed at halftime of the Broncos game last night. it looked like LA was completely in control. I was shocked when i got up and saw that Denver had made the comeback.
while Drake Maye has played like a dumpster fire so far this season, i have not given up hope. remember, he is still just 24 years old. has all the talent in the world.
I want to see him play 4 or 5 games with AJ and see how different that makes everything look.

i'd like for you guys to watch this play and tell me what you think
i'll tell you what i think in the meantime
complete and utter bs, and the Rams got jobbed
i see a receiver with his arm on the d-back, grabbing him, and pulling him into his body to create the contact
the official in the picture (who was in front of the play and could see it all, mind you), didn't do squat. the laundry came from the one behind the play who couldn't see what was really going on.
here's my question as a common sense kinda guy: why on earth don't those officials huddle up and the one with best vantage point talk sense into the one who didn't, especially on an exceedingly important play?
if anyone should have been flagged, it was the Broncos WR. nah, let's penalize the Rams DB who fought through being interfered with and picked the ball off to potentially ice the game.

If the Chiefs had been the team to benefit from that call…. rouge AI agents would have been turned loose to seek and destroy all Chiefs fans, and I would be hiding in the barn with the machines swarming all around wondering where in the hell do I find Sarah Connor. 😩
Should have been off-setting penalties, which would have been stupid, or no call, which typically is what the zebras do 99.9 percent of the time. To call Wallace for a penalty there was unfortunate. Bryant gets the Oscar for Dramatic Performance in a Feature Film. So they never got around to examining the interception, which would have been interesting after seeing where Wallace's knee touched the ground.
you think Wallace interfered on that play as well ?
Yes. That 6 second sequence you've posted begins with BOTH of Wallace's hands on Bryant's body. By rule, blah blah blah, that's interference. Once Bryant reaches back and grabs Wallace, then it becomes more like the incidental contact which is usually allowed or ignored by the officials. Again, I really think it should have been a no-call, then reviewing to quite likely allow the interception and award the Rams the turnover. Yes, they did get screwed.
i'm going to respectfully disagree with you mago. if what Wallace did was PI, then you can call it on 95% of pass plays. he was turned around with his head facing the ball and he simply had his hands on him. no pushing, no pulling, no grabbing. it did not significantly restrict the receiver's ability to catch it. again, if that's not allowed, then let's make these games 5 hours long and litter the field with laundry all day long. the brunt of the contact took place when the receiver pulled him into his body. THAT is PI.
should have been an offensive PI AND a pick (yes his knee was down in bounds, they showed it from another angle)
basically zebra incompetence flipped the numbers in the wins and losses column.........again. but the thing that really grinds my gears is that it could have been avoided if they had converged. i'm beyond sick of the inequities in some of these games.
Cleveland is 2-1 with Deshaun Watson playing sound football, and crickets from out resident Brownie followers
Consider who he has played all that “sound football” against.
3-0 Jacksonville - lost 34-10.
0-3 Tampa Bay - won 23-19.
1-2 Carolina - won 21-18.
Cleveland plays Pittsburgh on Thursday, so the entire NFL viewing audience should see just how sound DeShaun Watson plays. My hunch is that he’ll be struggling somewhere in the area of 30-13.
On the bright side, the Browns are in a 4-way tie for first place.
In reality, they are actually in a 4-way tie for last place.

maywood are we really bringing the strength of schedule garbage over to this thread? Watson goes up against the teams that are on the Browns' schedule, period. i think his best days ended when he did what he did years ago, but i'm not opposed to giving the guy some credit when he deserves it. and right now, he deserves it.
before the season started would you have signed up for 5 TDs, 1 INT and a 2 & 1 record after three weeks? i suspect you would have, eagerly.

I respectfully AGREE with you. My reference is exactly what has plagued the NFL for years - the interpretation of penalties! There should have been no penalty there. Wallace's momentum was already carrying him towards the sideline while chasing Bryant, so the jersey grab was really inconsequential other than it may have guided Wallace closer to the ball, allowing him to intercept it. Bryant was actually aiding him in his quest to get it, which he did. It should have gone their way. But, the argument about how to interpret penalties will continue into eternity, so there we go.
@galaxy27, if there's a way to be civil with you, please tell me. It always seems like you're looking for a fight. I tried to make peace via PM but that apparently didn't work.
Can't we get along??

i'll be more than happy to honor that request, right after you tell me who is fighting. i find your interpretation amusing. when you have a difference of opinion with someone like basebal, it's crystal clear. yet when i do it with you, apparently we're scheduled for 10 rounds. why is that exactly?
look up above. mago, my friend, had a different interpretation of the pivotal play in last night's game. we hit the ball over the net a few times, and no one had to be rushed to the hospital.
i mean, if being friends with you requires me to acquiesce any time you take a stance on a sports-related topic, then i think you're doing me a disservice. and the next time basebal has a take that twists your head and you decide to react in an eerily similar fashion to the way i just did to you, i'm going to remind you of this discussion we're having now
Wasn’t Case Keenum the original Backup in the Progressive commercials? Moving a boat trailer? He looks well groomed and confident tonight. I fear he will be the deer and the Eagles D will be the headlights. 😵💫

Looks like it’s wait till next year for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Highly paid Mayfield is out for several weeks with a dislocated thumb. The backup is an undrafted free agent. Looks like I’ll get to use the “Sling let’s you do that” option “when you team sucks” to drop coverage.
It will fun to get the #1 pick.
