YEah I'm not sure either. I will review the old holders when I get home from work and see how my OPC look. I know the new holders are terrible, way too small, you can't tell anything about the centering on some on them.
It is clearly undersized. And while clean edges can happen, the odds of a perfectly centered 73 OPC with perfect edges is as close to zero as it gets. Just doesn't pass the sniff test.
Fantastic that there was a sticker placed on a PSA 10 of a short/trimmed card. This is a hobby with absolutely zero integrity.
Degree Grading has an 11 grade. LOL
(They say its the same as Beckett Black Label)
Some of these independent grading companies are their own worst enemies.

LOL. But we do need some new blood in town. So far SGC hasn't stopped grading. Just sent in order 2. Probably will get it back by Easter. I'm just going to send an order per month so at some point I will be getting graded cards in.

After checking pop report on all the big rookies in the 80's for O-Pee-Chee PSA 10 I was blown away. I thought the hardest to get would be the 1987 Bonds or maybe Gwynn. Here are the numbers...

wow, that is interesting. i knew the Sandberg was a tough card. just didnt know how tough.
i sure wish Henderson, ripken, clemens and boggs had OPC rookies.
That Henderson looks damn near perfect. I was always tempted to open some 83 and 84 boxes. Looks like resisting temptation was the right move given those POPs.

I was following that. Previous “sale” was reported 8k as a BO so not sure what it actually was, if even a real sale. Here is the card that sold, seems to be a bit diamond cut:
Pop 3, two higher. I agree a decent buy, but the conversion and tax bill on that made it a 10K card CAD which was too much for me. I have an 8 already that looks good to my eye:

that 8 looks every bit as good as the 9 to my eye, and there is no tilt to yours
Great looking Aaron, El Mago. Color really pops on that one. It is so tough to find centered cards from 1975, but you got a nicely centered one. Great pickup.

There are two consecutive cert 87 OPC Bond 9s for sale. Both sliders that would get 8s 100 of out 100 if I subbed today.
Check out the cert run 41513125 41513139, buddy hit like 6 PSA 9’s and the rest are 8s. This card is basically impossible, I have ripped a bunch of wax and have 10+ hand collated sets. In my experience a reasonably centered card, in the 7 range, for every 10 boxes.

Someone found some sheets I’m guessing?
I did pull a 10 one time. Bought 7 unopened boxes from Kruk for $120, opened them, pulled a perfectly centered one and it got a psa 10. Unfortunately, I sold it for $1,200. At the time is was the largest sell, but obviously the 9's go for that now. I also bought a bunch of them from COMC back in 2016. 2 came back 9's. $3 apiece at the time.
Plus, I picked up 3 psa 8's for $40 total off ebay, $13 apiece. all 3 look like 9's or better. Centering is nearly perfect.
But the Bonds are definitely tough to get centered. 1990 opc griffey jr is too.

OPC sales have always been wildly inconsistent. Next sale is as likely to be higher than it is to be lower unless it has been years in between sales. We are niche market.
They lack of product/graded product causes some issues with the public knowing how much to pay. Any time you have items that are pop 1 through pop 7 or 8, it's hard to give it a value. 1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr are easy to price, 1996 atomic refractor ken griffey jr's are much more difficult to price, in fact I didn't see one Atomic on EBAY, unless I overlooked it.
I have a PSA 9 but not really sure how much it is worth.
OPC is still way undervalued. It will go up by leaps and bounds. especially 8's and up from the 70's. 9's will be be non existent from 1979 and older. no more 9's are being graded (or are barely being graded). they see a 1977 card and it's an 8 if it looks nearly perfect.
Unopened opc is almost a lock to double within 2 years. You can barely find it. Leaf is a very good product too from 1985 through 1988. hard to find a lot of that too.

Those are some eye popping numbers on the 80's OPCs. It's a shame PSA won't give older cards a chance at a 10 any more.
