I'd be surprised if this one is genuine: "1795 Draped Bust silver dollar"

It is silver and weighs what it should. A local dealer owns this coin and he's had it for awhile. My opinion upon seeing these raw is the same opinion I have when I see a raw 1916-D Mercury dime (probably a counterfeit. Whether of current fashion of a contemporary.). Genuine or not (and I lean toward 'not') it does appear damaged probably a fire or at least environmental.
Here it is. If anyone could point out characteristics I could then show the dealer as to your conclusion.

    Actually that counterfeit is the centered 1795 Draped Bust variety.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    Sometimes varieties shown closer to each other are easier to determine the differences.

    Centered has top 2 curls below ER of Liberty.

    Off Center has top 2 curls below BE of Liberty.

    The dark points above LIBERTY on the obverse are as a result of planchet spread in an open collar striking. No comment on authenticity, but the method of production is easily determined.

    Looks flat and squared off to my eyes, like the other fakes like this one.
