The sales for the 2025 coin is 3991. This will need to be a failure to become the key date.
I bought one some years back simply because I wanted to see what Palladium would look like in coin form. Always loved the Mercury design. After getting one, I bought a couple more. Didn’t last year, but just might take the 2026 leap.
Palladium. That's why.
Not a traditional precious metal. And then it got more expensive than platinum when catalytic converter use exploded. As a result, a very niche metal, and, accordingly, a very niche coin.

This'll be my 3rd set of 3 different finishes. This is my least favorite form, but still very nice.
I'm starting to reevaluate my expenses for next year, especially with how high gold is. Its just no longer affordable, mostly for the full-ounce buffalo. I'm waffling whether this coin will stay in the budget. The drop in spot (from prior years anyway) leans in favor of keeping it, but we'll see. I really like it tho.
super agree that this finish is not the most interesting in the series, and happy Pd spot is low-ish; making this year's offering price-accessible for me

My only 2024 DCAM proof Palladium coin is so, so lovely.
My thoughts are along the lines of @NJCoin in that palladium is not a traditional coinage metal and also it looks quite a bit like platinum and silver. So, the combination of not having a unique appearance and being struck in something most folks don't think of as a precious metal or coinage metal make it a tough sell when you ask folks for four figures per coin.

would love to wait a week or two if Pd spot price keeps 📉 to snag at a slightly lower cost but unsure if stock will be there when I want it lol

Agreed, and for most hobbyist collectors, it's too expensive or not competitive vs. the vast majority of other coinage in the same price range. There really aren't very many other coins with this supply selling for comparable prices. It is mostly common circulating gold or other NCLT.
If the buyer is prioritizing liquidity, it's competitive. Otherwise, it isn't.
US MINT may have pre sold for advance release about 2,200 of 5000 mintage:

i've never bought palladium before but it seems risky to me. i'm on the fence about buying because i don't want to have fomo lol. fomo has hit me hard this year...
I'm going to try to get one because I think palladium is a cool metal, and I'll get it graded. The coin looks awesome. And if I don't get one, then I don't; it's not the end of the world (I got 10 enhanced ASEs and am now wondering what to do with 9 of them).

Better than I was expecting after that spike in Palladium spot price the other day.
Pd price was around 1360 a little while ago.

VERY unlikely, given how anemic sales are expected to be. More likely that they did not make the full 5K, because they don't want to get stuck with unsold inventory.
Assuming ATS actually sells through, the question will be whether they make more or not. As far as I can tell, there was nothing made available to ABPP for this.
Sales report shows 2,000 sold for bulk. Looks like they’re minting all 5,000 and holding some for stores.
These will probably sell out in a few minutes, hopefully no waiting room issues

the non-sellability in current secondary says nothing about the sellability in secondary of our children's or grandchildren's future
