Did anyone else catch the raw ‘74 OPC’s sold by Slab Sharks Inc on eBay within the past week or so? $637 for Schmidt, $519 for Ryan, $401 for Winfield, and $181 for Jackson. The seller listed the condition for all as “ungraded-poor” which is obviously inaccurate based on the photos and resulting bids. The cards were photographed in sleeves so it’s even more difficult than normal to judge condition. Some bidders were clearly willing to gamble that the condition is better than what can be determined from the photos. Some sellers provide their own grades for raw cards, such as Greg Morris, which some buyers put a lot of stock in; not the case with this seller but enough people were still willing to bid high regardless. Given the high value for high grade vintage OPC these days, there are clearly folks out there who are willing to gamble big that they’ll land a high grade raw card at a relatively good price.

I was in on the Ryan. thought i put in a really strong bid, but lost it at the end. i dont mind raw, up to a point, but get a little worried when i cant see the card in hand and see if it measures up!! in fact, the ryan card is the reason i started the thread about tariffs on cards from Canada. wanted an idea up front what i may be looking at as far as that went.
YEah the RYan looked nice even at a five it would be a nice card. Probably need a 6 to get your money back. I have a rose that looks just the ryan centering wise it is a SGC 6. Corners soft. Hard to tell about the ryan overall.

One of the corners on the Ryan card looked soft to me. A very nice card with excellent centering but likely a 5 or 6 and with sub fees and a year wait probably worth buying to keep as a nice raw card.

I did sell a pack pulled pop 1 PSA 10 1974 MVP (Garvey/Burroughs) card #212 about 2 years ago (not sure if it's still pop 1 but I assume so) and think I got around $850 on ebay for it. I thought that was a strong price at the time but it's probably increased in value since then like most other cards.

74 is very tough for packs, too. Production that year was curtailed due to a production strike at the OPC factory.

Just saw some terrible news concerning the 74 opc ryan i was the underbidder on. Apparently it was "delivered " by FedEx yesterday and the card was missing from the ebay authentication package. The guy opened it on video. Saw it on one of the ryan FB groups i am a member of. I hope it shows up, but i have my doubts. It was a nice raw copy

i believe that it would have been a fedex employee who made the theft after authentication shipped. when the buyer recieved the package it was heavily wrapped in clear packing tape. that is what led him to believe it had been tampered with and so he opened it on video.
Really enjoyed meeting Tom in person at The National. Bought a gorgeous ‘77 binder set. Unreal centering super sharp color and a very fair price. I would call the set breathtaking! Bought a few raw singles as well. Then went back once my brother arrived at the show on Wednesday and he also bought a set. If interested in seeing the set I took a video.

Brad, great set, congrats on your pickup! 77 OPC is one of my favorite sets. Small piece of trivia for you and any other OPC fans out there: OPC put an Expos card almost every 9 cards in the set (9, 18, 27, 36, etc). That's why there is an Expos card in every lower right corner of the binder page. They also put a Blue Jays card almost every 9 cards in the set (67, 76, 85, 94, etc).

That is the same one I posted back in May 2026 that looked trimmed and sold on ebay for $70,888.

oh man, i didnt look too closely at it in this specific auction and did not make that connection. I was watching a number of different lots but I definitely see it now. perhaps Mike Baker doesnt look too closely at the cards he reviews either. it swims in that holder.
the edges are remarkably sharp/smooth. you can really see it on the reverse. 73s have that black reverse that is always chipped up. this one is almost supernaturally sharp.
and, it is just swimming around in that slab. look at how much space there is around the bumpers in that slab

Smallstocks, where did you get these cards? I am trying to find high grade OPCs and this has been impossible. That is awesome!
I am as OCD as it comes. Between my job and the never-ending hunt for cards, packs and autographs it exhausts me! But I truly love it.
