As we celebrate 250, recall that key founding fathers Jefferson and Adams both passed on July 4 1826. This July 4 2026 marks the 200th anniversary of the unlikely event of their deaths on the same day. Show em if you got em 👍

The odds of two founding fathers passing on the same day is unusual enough ... both on the same July 4th is pretty remarkable.
Here are two, one for each of them
.
The first is an 1826 O-112a in P58cac, which I purchased in March of 2022. It had formerly been in Sheridan Downey's MB42 as Lot 47
.
The second is a rarer DM, the 1826 O-114, and it's probably my favorite 1826. Also in P58cac, I purchased this one in April of 2025 from a friend in the BHNC. It was in a NGC 58 holder at the time, and I decided to crack it and get it graded at PCGS. I later sent it to CAC.

And John Adams' last words were reportedly "Jefferson still survives." He did not know that Jefferson had died 5 hours before.

😂it’s been in my set for a little bit. Just been enjoying it so I didn’t post it anywhere yet, it came from another bust collector. Had to pay up!
You should start a bust half set 👀 would be a fun endeavor. Be careful though, you might just get that deadly ‘Bust Half Fever’

I don't have much.
A half cent. Note the scratched out spot to the right of the date where the die sinker tried to correct his error. This variety is fairly common.
And from my one a year cent set. This coin "worked for a living."
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?3 -
