Occasionally you can get a nice Seated at your LCS. Raw in this case and I am a sucker for O-mint. I can forgive the slight rim bump or two.

    Nice V-1.
Strange that they call it "9 Over Widely Placed 6", though.
I thought that phrase was used for V-2, what I like to call "9 over far 6".

Enjoying the New Orleans Mint class at the ANA Summer Seminar. A lot of Seated material in show and tell. Craig E.'s portion on 1840-O Half Dollar attribution exercise was very educational! There are 15 WB#'d varieties.

Not only a true Large Date, but the cool late die state V-1a with the die crack through E2 L M2.

It's a great coin, but it's not FS-302 (V-2); it is a V-1 (also an overdate), as I think you know.

@yosclimber I attached an information sheet indicating that the 1849 H10C was a 1849/6 V-1, but who knows if the grading / attribution room got it or not.

Who knows, perhaps their attribution room referred to https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin/1849-6-h10c-9-over-widely-placed/4342/10 and saw the first coin depicted is a V-1 listed as 1849/6 H10C 9 Over Widely Placed 6. Sloping downward date with a faint remnant of the underlying 6. Déjà vu again?

CAC Grading still has the 1849/8 Over So-Called 8 :(

    GSID Date Variety
    3811 1849/6 Base
    297894 1849/6 Overdate FS-301
    3810 1849/6 9 Over Widely Placed 6
    297896 1849/'8' 9 Over So-Called 8 FS-303
