I can't deny - I've always hated that shot. It didn't come out right, and I want to redo it at some point. Still cringe every time I see it.
My preferred version of “coffee”, plus my new pocket piece. Looks like it was already well on its way to pocket piece condition when my wife found it in the dryer.
(I prefer pocket pieces that won’t cause heartbreak when I lose them, which I inevitably do. So no silver or gold.)

I came down to Portland yesterday and enjoyed time with my daughter, and I can say the city is in full bloom. But just like the Northwest to keep us on our toes it started raining after we got done playing games last night, and it's still raining all morning. Liquid sunshine at it's finest!

Here is one of my very favorite coins that I have now had for 12-15 years. Magnificent in hand which is the only place that truly does it justice (it is also 1.47 oz of 0.900 gold, and full crown sized). A very rare piece that in 20 years have only seen two others, this possibly the very best, the hairlines are. die prept:

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I am going crazy by putting a low/high graded set of bust coinage. I already have a high grade 1801 Draped Bust dime and believe it or not finding a Poor 1 is impossible that isn't damaged nor cleaned. I had to settle for a Fair 2. Add to the difficulty - has to be CAC'd! Oh well. Enjoy!

@EastonCollection I’d love to see the set! Something about the 1801 and1802 dated coinage that intrigues me, no idea why other than the history. No more coffee for me today, but I’ll add my 1801 dime into the fray.

Good morning, all. As usual, I'm enjoying the coins everyone is posting. Today I'm admiring a couple of newly graded variety dimes that I'm quite taken with: a 1929-S DDO and a 1943-S RPM.
Well, I took about a four mile walk this morning and took additional photos of the trail and beautiful items along the trail (including three California bears).
After I finished I stopped by a grocery store and while there struck Silver in the CoinStar reject slot.
See attached photos.
So in addition to taking care of my health, this Saturday morning does include a new coin for me that cost me nothing more than looking at the reject slot, seeing bright silver and retrieving it from the slot.

A trip to my favorite pawn shop Yesterday yielded a nicely toned D/S Buffalo for my type set album.
The assigned grade was 63 and I thought possibly 66 until I saw the staple scratch on the chin.
Oh well, it will have to do for now.
Drinking coffee this afternoon on my back patio thinking about not mowing…
Picked up a nice VF 08-104a this past week. Sat in a Kraft envelope for who knows how long. Some nice luster on a VF coin. The die is basically falling apart at this point for the marriage.
Well, the PNNA was a great venue. I really liked the conference room they had set up, large and spacious with good lighting and overlooking the Columbia Rover. Definitely a excellent spot.
Also, the place we had breakfast (a few miles South) was outstanding. It's called Gravy and it's on Mississippi Street in that funky area North of Downtown just off the I-5. Bring your appetite and go early. Wow!
Anyway, the PNNA was very well attended through the morning and early afternoon (I left about 230ish), and from the dealers I spoke with, they were doing pretty well too. I'll be interested to see Daryl's @2windy2fish show report, and may add a little of my show experience there.
I looked and looked, talked to friends ... made some new ones ... saw a fantastic raw Bust Quarter from someone here on the board ... and really didn't find much that fit my groove.
A guy I met on eBay came over and brought me something to look at, but I just wasn't feeling it. He lowered his price some more, but I didn't know of anyone who wanted it, so I passed. I needed the DM, but I was just having a hard time justifying a real desire for the coin itself. I did appreciate him coming over though, even if I felt guilty we didn't do a deal.
Ended up seeing and talking with four other BHNC members that showed up, and one of them brought something for me.

So, while I didn't find much, something found me.
I think he knew I would probably cave!!

Saturday Red Eye time while the missus & I are hanging with some friends in Reno NV. As an aside, many years ago, I didn’t know what the term “red eye” meant. I walked into a small coffee shop in Paso Robles CA & ordered a “black coffee with an espresso shot”. The owner, a bit crusty, but friendly elderly lady, informed me: “honey, what you want is a red eye. It’s a term commonly used by railroad guys to keep them awake for their long runs”. I thought of it today as, among other things, Reno is a railroad town.
OK, coin time & my fear is today’s offering won’t be well received. I posted it a few weeks ago & got ZERO reaction:
Surprisingly, I got no response when I posted it in the Flying Eagle thread. This is an IMPORTANT coin! The 1857 S-7 variety is an extreme rarity within this short series with a 4* rating. One, there are no MS coins known, let alone graded. There is a AU58; before this one was discovered, the next highest were a pair of XF45’s. As a AU53, today’s coin ranks #2.
Two, It’s solid for the grade with no issues. Eye appeal is good. The important $20 die clash outlines are well defined.
The coin was submitted to CAC & declined. Apparently there was evidence of a light wipe beneath the even BN patina. I’ll note none of the other 3 examples cited earlier are CAC approved either.
Attesting to its rarity, there are a total of 53 coins showing in the PCGS pop. The top 5:
AU58
AU53 (this coin)
XF45 (2)
XF40
Finally, below is the TV. It’s adequate, but a little light & doesn’t show the die clash impressions clearly.
I've spent the week traveling (work and pleasure), and part of the fun was visiting my friend Lance @lkeigwin in Monterey on Tuesday night for pizzas and a couple drinks while playing some show and tell.
And was great to see him (always) and all things considered, he looked good!
I didn't take any pictures, but I did bring some things with me for our meeting, so they have been traveling around with me this week.

@Eldorado9 - I love the idea of putting together a date set of proof Barber Halves, especially if they are all toned or cameo. They look awesome together. I may just do that. One thing I was thinking (once completed) is to crack out the coins from the slab and get a capitol plastic holder to hold the set. They would look really cool and easy to display. Mostly likely won't do but it would be so cool to do.

Well it would be a stunning collection. The colors the Barber's take on are some of the most beautiful in all of numismatics. PF-66+-->PF-67+ seems to be the sweet spot in terms of value these days. LMK if you start, as I'd love to follow progress.!
