Once again, I’m struck by the vast distance between the raw “holey” example that hangs on my corkboard and @winesteven ’s Gem 65+ CAC coin.

The study in contrast is kind of fun.

You cover the high end, and I’ll cover the low end! 😜

    My circulated contribution:

@lordmarcovan do you think we could start up a similar thread for Canada or Great Britain on the World Coin forum?

Why not? As a coin album maker, you’ll know the lineups. I do think Type sets would provide more variety and interest than date sets.

I could potentially see doing Great Britain by monarch.

Here are my two versions, both bought as 64’s. The 1853 got a plus via Reconsideration, but the 1854 failed:

@lordmarcovan , I enjoy seeing your 19th century holey coin photos!

@winesteven i really like your A&R example. I’m looking for one as I expand towards a “full” US type set that includes it all.

@normmalin that 30 is right in my wheelhouse. Fantastic. Frankly that coin looks at least a point under graded to my eyes as well. Love the whole package you have right there.

Great looking coins as always guys. If only someone could teach @Mr_Spud a thing or 2 about consistency…..then we all wouldn’t have to be sitting guessing what grade he’s going to post.

So yes, as @lordmarcovan correctly points out about many collectors putting together date and mint sets of IHC’s, that’s true for me. So here are the two keys, ignoring varieties:

    Lovely 1877 Cent!!!
I was able to speak to Tom Bender at a Baltimore show. He was very friendly and engaging. He had some great stories. We were both collecting Liberty Seated Dimes. His were slightly finer than mine
He told me that Eugene Gardner was extremely difficult to bid against.

This 1853 Arrows and Rays Quarter is graded MS-61.

This 1854 With Arrows rated an MS-64.

This two toned 1874 With Arrows is a Proof-66. Both images are accurate depending upon the angle of the light.

    All are spectacular !!!
