Common grade of one of the most common dates in the entire series……still one of my favorite coins in my entire collection. This is just about the “perfect” circulated Seated 25c to my eyes.
Doing a little catch-up, here is my best 20 Cent Piece, an 1876 which is graded MS-65.
Capped Bust Quarter which NGC graded AU-58.
A Seated Quarter in PR-64.

@lordmarcovan do you think we could start up a similar thread for Canada or Great Britain on the World Coin forum?

Why not? As a coin album maker, you’ll know the lineups. I do think Type sets would provide more variety and interest than date sets.
I could potentially see doing Great Britain by monarch.
Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.
Today our type will be the Liberty Seated Quarter Arrows (1853-55).
This of course comprises two distinct subtypes: the 1853 Arrows & Rays quarter and the 1854-55 Arrows, No Rays quarters.
While I presently lack these types and subtypes in my primary slabbed collection, I do have them in my holed type set. But I have no pictures of my "holey" examples. (Not that you probably wanted to see them anyway.) I also have an 1855 quarter in my metal detecting finds album, but no picture of that, either. (It's the only Seated quarter I ever dug. Low grade, but was an exciting find.)
Anyway, in order to contribute to today's types/subtypes, I will fetch some from the "used to be mine" folder.
First, here are two different Arrows & Rays examples, both PCGS VF35. I really liked the second one for its crusty, CircCam look. Might be too dark for some people's taste, but not mine! I like dark toned coins IF the contrast is there. I say no thanks to monochrome dark coins, but if it has CircCam contrast? Yes please! That second coin below was a real "black beauty", if you ask me.
Then, here's an 1854 (Arrows, No Rays) that was PCGS XF45.
Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.
@winesteven i really like your A&R example. I’m looking for one as I expand towards a “full” US type set that includes it all.
@normmalin that 30 is right in my wheelhouse. Fantastic. Frankly that coin looks at least a point under graded to my eyes as well. Love the whole package you have right there.
Great looking coins as always guys. If only someone could teach @Mr_Spud a thing or 2 about consistency…..then we all wouldn’t have to be sitting guessing what grade he’s going to post.

So yes, as @lordmarcovan correctly points out about many collectors putting together date and mint sets of IHC’s, that’s true for me. So here are the two keys, ignoring varieties:
Steve
Lovely 1877 Cent!!!
I was able to speak to Tom Bender at a Baltimore show. He was very friendly and engaging. He had some great stories. We were both collecting Liberty Seated Dimes. His were slightly finer than mine
He told me that Eugene Gardner was extremely difficult to bid against.
This 1853 Arrows and Rays Quarter is graded MS-61.
This 1854 With Arrows rated an MS-64.
This two toned 1874 With Arrows is a Proof-66. Both images are accurate depending upon the angle of the light.

I realized I jumped the gun yesterday posting my 1855 with arrows. I do have an 1853 with arrows.
And to make up for yesterday, an 1857 that is holed & plugged. Would have been really nice otherwise.
@lordmarcovan I think if we did a Great Britain by Monarch, we could start with Charles III and work our way backwards and see how much history can be uncovered through the coins.

I received a message from @lordmarcovan that he caught a head cold, so he asked me to fill in for him for today, and possibly tomorrow.
So we turn the page. Today is Wednesday, February 25th, and we do the last of the Seated Liberty Quarters, 1866-1891. These have the Motto “In God We Trust” on the reverse. ( @BillJones , is it more proper to call these “Seated Liberty”, or “Liberty Seated”?)
Any date in that 1866-1891 range is good, including 1873-1874, which usually have arrows (some quarters dated 1873 do not). Unlike 1853-1855 with arrows, which notified the public that those coins had a reduced silver weight, the arrows on 1873-1874 were placed on those dates to notify the public that the silver weight was slightly increased!
Here are two of mine, both of which are MANY of my coins in whole grades that failed to get upgraded via Reconsideration:

A couple of favorites. The 1867 and 1876-CC I got from the same shop, though I think they overgraded the 76-CC when they labeled it as a VG. The 1891 once resided in my year set collection until I got an XF.

OK, apparently @lordmarcovan still has his head cold. Let’s wish him well when we show our coin(s) for the day!
Today is Thursday February 26th, so we now move on to the Barber Quarter. Coincidentally, I go for my monthly haircut today, lol. Seriously!
I can’t wait to see the super rainbows @Eldorado9 will share with us! I grade each of his Barber Quarters at least MS71 or PR71, regardless of what PCGS shows on their label. As high as those PCGS grades are, in my opinion the grades on his Barber labels are actually too conservative! I hope he shares a few of them with us!
Here’s mine: PR67+CAM w/CAC

Once again, I’m struck by the vast distance between the raw “holey” example that hangs on my corkboard and @winesteven ’s Gem 65+ CAC coin.
The study in contrast is kind of fun.
