Today we'll move on to our next type, which is the Liberty Seated Half Dime Legend (1860-73).
Psst! @robec - you jumped the gun the other day, but you can come back now!
As is embarrasingly usual, I do not have this type in my current holdings. So here's a holey from my corkboard collection, with the usual bad pics.
There is a cryptic notation in my filenames which says "dbld", so I gather there is some doubling on this coin somehwere?
I've had higher grade, problem-free examples of this type in the past (maybe even MS), but those coins have gone out of my memory and I do not have any pics of them. So the holey below will have to do.
Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.
I now have two examples of this type. I like this 1860 half dime because of very close Civil War date connection.
Later I bought this Proof half dime. Photographing this piece, which is buried in its old NGC holder, is difficult.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
I haven't been able to post to this thread for a few days, any issues with me posting some half dimes tomorrow night?

Rob, can you receive his photos and edit them into one of your posts for the day. Steven and I did that when he missed the first day. Or any other participant?

I don't see why not.

PR66CAM w/CAC. There are 78 of these graded PR66CAM (46 by PCGS and 32 by NGC). Of those 78, only 11 merit a CAC sticker! I bought this about seven years ago on eBay, and I only have the sellers photos, which are not good. Fortunately, there’s a “highly lit” True View.
A day without fine wine and working on your coin collection is like a day without sunshine!!!

Once again, the contrast between your PR66 CAM CAC and my raw, worn-out holey is amazing!

We'll now move on to our next type, which is the Liberty Head Nickel No Cents (1883).
I do not currently have one in my primary (slabbed) collection, but here's one I have in my giveaway inventory. I reckon it is one of those "super-slider" coins where I personally can't quite tell if it's an AU58+ or an MS62-63. It's got the luster, anyway.
Want it? You can enter the giveaway here. That particular giveaway lot also includes a reasonably decent Type 1 Buffalo nickel.
(Yes, my pictures suck.)
For once I will spare you the sight of my "holey" example, since it seems I do not have a picture of that.

This is an NGC PR-65. The 1883 No Cents Nickel in Mint State is cheaper than other dates from that era because of the hoarding. The Proof is more because type collectors are limited to the 5,219 Proofs that were struck of the one year type.

Bought this as an NGC 55. Cracked it and now PCGS 58 (CAC). Probably should’ve left it in the 55 holder before getting it to JA.
66 with color that really attracted my interest.

Welcome to Thursday, February 5th.
Today we leave the half dimes and move into the nickels (copper-nickel 5-cent pieces, that is).
Our next type and the first of the nickels is of course the Shield Nickel with Rays (1866-67).
As I'm sure you're used to hearing by now, I do not currently have an example of this type in my slabbed primary collection.
So I'll fall back on my casual "holey collection". My holed example is below. Not very exciting, I know.
I do not recall what my past best (problem-free) Shield Nickel with Rays was. Maybe XF. Not sure. I know I've never had an MS example of the type.
