Hello, everyone, and welcome to Wednesday, January 28th. It is now time for our final cent type in the Virtual 7070 album.
I am speaking of course of the Lincoln Head Cent Memorial (1959-2008).
The Dansco 7070 album and the associated PCGS Registry set that was linked to in the OP do not recognize the Lincoln Bicentennial cents of 2009 nor the Union Shield reverse "Shield cents" from 2010-2025. The Registry set lineup we're working from here dates the Lincoln Memorial cents from "1959-present" [sic]. So I suppose for today's postings, you may post any 1959 or later Lincoln cent, regardless of subtype.
I personally have little interest in US coins after 1964. With the exception of the occasional flashy proof, I prefer coins that are older than I am, and I was born the year clad coinage made its debut (1965).
I never thought I would be interested in adding a Lincoln Memorial cent to my collection, but I made an exception for this one from my birthyear. It is incredibly toned, and "pops" like this just as much in hand as it does in the photographs.
Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.
I have two birth year coins in my collection, this one and another that we’ll eventually get to down the road a bit. 😉

Here's the coin I have in my 7070 album. I recall getting it in change (~2005) and thinking it must have come from someone's grandfather's collection. For the princely sum of one cent:
Collecting: Dansco 7070; Middle Date Large Cents (VF-AU); Box of 20;
Here is the piece in my type set. This was bought in the good old days when you could still buy certified PR-69 coins for $5 or $10. They were the coins which "flunked" and didn't come back graded PR-70.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

It's ugly, but this was the first "S" coin that I couldn't get out of pocket change and also the one that started my Proof Cent collection.
This one is... a beautiful ugly? The original proof set "survived" a house fire.
And one of my favorites.

Welcome to Thursday, January 28th. We're now finished with the cents in our Virtual 7070 set, and now it is time to move on to the next denomination, which is the...
2 Cent Piece Bronze (1864-1872).
As I've been doing when I lack a certain type in my current primary collection, I'll be falling back on my "holey" 19th century type set. This holed 1867 2c piece is the coin pinned to my corkboard in that collection.
I periodically have lower grade 2c pieces in my giveaway inventory, but nothing amazing.
The one really nice 2c piece and the best of the type that I have owned in the past (and this was many moons ago) was this 1868 proof (PCGS PR64 RD). I was of the opinion that it was a Cameo coin, but I'm pretty sure PCGS did not award the CAM designation to proof 2-cent pieces at the time it was graded.
It's probably been 20 years since I sold it. All I have left are these less than ideal photos.
For a while back in the early 2000s, I had an avatar picture I made from it (having your own custom avatar was a big deal back then). @66Tbird, to whom I sold the coin, still uses that avatar to this day (though I don't believe he still owns the coin).
If I could ever track that coin down, I'd love to own it again.
Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.
Here is one of mine from my Two Cent Registry set. MS66+RD with a CAC sticker. Tied for Top Pop, 5/0. I bought it five years ago on GC as a 66RD, and when I got it in hand, I liked it so much, I sent it to PCGS for Reconsideration. Sure enough, they agreed, and added on the plus. That “little plus” almost triples the value!

I like first-year issues, so here's my 1864 Large Motto, PCGS MS65RB. I have no idea why PCGS switched the obverse and reverse for the TrueView. Kind regards, George
...once again, here's the album coin. Crummy pictures... there's still a bit of mint luster left in the devices. This is likely one I'll resubmit to our hosts...

If we’re being honest….this is my least favorite coin in my 7070. One of the few coins in my set I’m actively looking to replace. TV makes it look duller and frankly uglier than it actually is, but still not a coin I’m in love with, which is supposed to be the #1 rule for my set.

I find it tough to find a 3cS with eye appeal that appeals to me. Not only are they tiny, but the strikes can be quirky and so many of the circulated examples got bent or beat up.
Even my 1851-O that I posted above doesn't absolutely knock my sox off in terms of eye appeal. It's just... OK. The appeal of that particular one for me was the mintmark, to be honest.
@winesteven 's example looks like a monster, of course.
Oh! I forgot to post my all-time best of type, from the "used to be mine" files. This PR63 was pretty.

1882 PR66. Nice tone to it. I bought this on Instagram after passing on it the year before
1878 PR63 housed in a 2nd gen PCGS slab. A proof only issue and my personal favorite, but the 1882 is a nicer coin
1885 in an NGC PF66. This was my first proof and is quite nice
Here's a fun one, an 1868 in PR55! The lowest straight graded coin at all grading companies last time I checked. I saw this on eBay shortly after it was listed and snagged it immediately

Thanks for getting us going on the new day's type, @creg. I got busy at work.
