Just a 1oz silver round on Jan 1st via eBay BIN that is already a little more reasonable with silver rise

To quote the spinning plate guy asked to take the stage after the Beetles appeared on Ed Sullivan; :You expect me to go on after that?!!" I would be embarrassed to show any coin from my collection after @Pnies20 . Great coin congrats. James

1920-S One Centavo from the US Philippines. A bit of a better date from what I've seen. I bought it on eBay last Tuesday so I'm still waiting for it to arrive

I finally got the coin today. Pretty ugly but it fills a spot

@Rule556 . I am pretty new to collecting Barber coins but have quickly learned that trying to judge actual luster is the hardest to do. I have only handled a half dozen coins. Throw is any sort of toning and the taks gets much harder. If you don't know what I'm talking about, Heritage currently has several hundred AU-50 to AU-58 coins up for auction. Try to determine the difference via photos. It is a challenge ; at least for me. James

Oh, me too. I'm not a high roller, so I'm always looking for the best intersection of price and quality. I wasn't hoping for a whole lot on that half, but it's nicer than I'd hoped given my short budget on it. It's definitely seen a few transactions in its life. LOL

The quarter on the other hand, if it has circulation rub, it's infinitesimal, and the field surfaces are mirror-like underneath that colorful toning.

I purchase almost exclusively through eBay, and it's definitely tough judging a good buy with photos, but overall my success rate has been pretty high. I definitely have a few that will need to be replaced down the road. ;)

Your coin has worked hard, so not a lot to go on. The mintmark position suggests a WB-5. One of the R4's for 1868-S.

Sounds like you did better than I did picking mid-grade Barber halves off of eBay. I became tired of purchasing wiped and otherwise hairlined Barbers and switched to Seated Liberty halves where I could judge their originality better by their toning.
