Thanks for the post, I'm not always sure what the US Mint is going to do. The V75 Privy is a Type 1 proof Eagle and lowest minted Privy... Still selling strong I think..
This 2026 will be a type two eagle, so hard to tell in the long run, but flippers could do well short term maybe..

Yes. Whatever they are "clearing out" was manufactured at much lower prices, and has been sitting for quite a while.
As long as they are not selling at below what they can get by melting them, what they are doing makes perfect sense,when they alternative is repricing it and having it continue to sit unsold. Just don't expect to see them sell any 2026 numismatic product at anything close to a 20% premium to spot.

If you want them, yes. The Mint selling numismatic product at anything close to spot is a rare occurrence. Just don't buy expecting to make a killing, because, if the Mint can't sell it at a large premium, you won't be able to either.

If you want a bullion play, buy bullion. Why would you pay a premium to own them? U.S. Mint collector products are about the worst way to invest in bullion.
As for coins, anything that didn't sell out at the mint is only going to move with bullion and the premium will evaporate if the price goes up, so there is also no point in buying them as numismatic "investments".
If you want to own one or more, buy one. But, if you didn't already buy one, it's because you don't want one. The price didn't go down.

Actually right now, the random year BU silver eagle at a big dealer's site is around $100.15 (if buy 1-19 with credit card), more expensive then the mint Unc SE which is only $91.

Yes. That's true. So if you want one, buy it. That doesn't make it a good future investment. I don't know any dealers buying at $100, so there is no arbitrage opportunity.
Upstate is buying at $83 and selling at $94. There's no reason to consider the Mint Eagles to be a bargain worth buying UNLESS YOU WANT TO OWN ONE.

You're kidding, right? All the usual places, including the BST. It's not hard to buy physical silver. Go to any coin store, coin show, dealer website, Ebay, BST.

It is worth noting, however, that the number of collectors appears to be under 100,000 now based on sales of the regular proof coins. I'm not sure how many years it will take before we'll find that 60,000 will be the norm.

True. And, unfortunately, with the new pricing, that day will be coming sooner rather than later. Once upon a time, like maybe 10-15 years ago or so, they priced at a modest premium to modestly priced silver, and easily sold over 500K per year.
Rising silver prices naturally cut into that, but rising Mint premiums on top of rising spot prices greatly contributed to demand destruction. Far more than collector fatigue.
They still sold nearly 300K of the 2025 proof ASE, and only around 50K of that was accounted for between the beginning of December and today. So there was still robust collector demand for far more than 100K before the latest price increase.
60K will be a winner at $175 for the foreseeable future, although significantly less good than at $105. 100K would also be a winner, although a lot less of a slam dunk, given that the military privies were a double at $105 with that mintage.
It's the 2026 dual date that is a big question mark at $173 with a mintage of 500K, because I'm not sure that the value is there at that price, and at that premium to the current spot price.

These new prices that I looked at last night are higher than I could have anticipated. When I get in the buying/not buying window that the mint has, I will have no choice other than to decrease to 1or maybe 2 if I win the lotto.

It's been a while since I stalked the mint website at 5:30AM local time (Since 2019 ERP). Do subscription availabilities update daily at that time or once per week? I never subscribed to this set in the past because it was the same as the other proofs. This year it appears to be the only way to get the P mint marked coin.

You talked me into getting the 2026 Congratulations Philly issue.
Been checking in at Mint daily since you noted its lower 60k mintage desirability, then red button popped up half hour ago.
$175 & free delivery sometime in March 26.
Most I've paid for silver ounce bullion from the Mint.At the moment silver is $80.61 oz.
Wonder where the silver ounce is trading when they ship it in 3 weeks ?

I also noticed the subscription was available earlier today. I think I got in - it was in my cart and I submitted, but dont see it in my subscriptions yet. Not usually a fan of this set, but noticed it was the way to get a "P" mint proof.

At 1st I was thinking it was rather sneaky of the mint to switch to the P mint mark for this congratulations set, to lure in the likes of me who are chasing every version of the proof ASE. I never bought this version before - was always the same "W" ASE proof to me.
But then it occurred to me, it might make it easier to send it in to be graded with the "congratulations set" designation, without having to send the whole unopened package? At least make it easier for those that care about the designation.0 -

I ordered two more subscriptions this evening, one per account. The add box does show up periodically, although it is not currently available. Keep trying during the day at night if you want to subscribe.

Sorry, but I don’t understand your answer.
Last week the posted ATS was 9,900 for the public. Was increased to 39,900 yesterday.Also, today the “Authorized Bulk Program” page for this coin popped.
Price for them is 183.75 (the 5% markup). As of now that ATS is zero.Could twenty thousand be reserved for “bulkers”? We will see.
