2026: What are your collecting goals for the coming year?

I would like to add 2-3 key date half dollars to my collection. Hoping to add 2 of these three dates 1795-1801-1802. Just setting funds aside for now. Will start looking around mid 2026. It will be a slow year quantity wise but I prefer getting some key dates this year.
A low graded 1794 would also be possible if ever I sell more of my Latin American coin collection. Will see how that goes.
In the end taking care of my health will be #1. So if I can get 2 coins out of these 4 this year I will call it a great year.
I prefer collecting coins in lower circulated condition G04 to F12

More seated liberty stuff starting with the halfs
It depends on the set, but I'll be looking to add a coin to my Box of 20... either a 1787 Fugio Cent or a 1795 Half Dollar. I'll also be looking to add one or two coins to my Large Cent run... currently looking at a couple of 1795 Lettered Edge LCs... continue with Tokens, but this is a newer pursuit and I'm just a dilettante for the moment...

A FH 1916 Standing Liberty quarter, a 1907 high relief $20 St Gaudens, and an 1889 and/or 1893CC Morgan $1. Even one nice one of the four would be sufficient ….
3 upgrades to my complete 1890 mint set.

More large cents!!
My stretch goal will be to acquire classic head large cent in better VF, which will round out the non-gold portion of my 7070 registry. Also add to two projects I started this year, PCGS mercury year and short sets.I also hope to thin out my raw holdings.

I am down to a handfull of Seated coins to complete some custom sets of my own importance and inclusion. However, I have set 2 new goals for the future. The first is to build a date set of Barber Dimes and feature old white ANAC holders whenever possible. The second is to rebuild a set of Type coins I once owned; again hoping for the old ANAC holders if possible. Thank you for asking. James
Get a 1785 Nova Constellatio 4-D to complete that set, and get the last two Barber halves I need for that one. Continue working on my 1640 countermarked French collection, there's no such thing as finishing that one!
I’ll be finishing my 20th century type set. Biggest needs are a Barber quarter, Barber half, and type 1 and type 2 pedestal date Standing Liberty Quarters.
Need to be picky and find nice examples in my budget.
Then I’ll just go back to improving my peace dollar set as I can.
Upgrading my Washington qtr silver set, keep an eye out for upgrades to my Roosie silver set. That particular set is to the point that any upgrades are approaching mid four figures. I'd be happy with one or two upgrades for the year.
I want to get one or more rare Colonials/ Early US pre-mint I don't yet have -
1616 Sommer Islands, with a hogge you can actually see
1659 Lord Baltimore
1737 Higley Copper
1776 Continental dollar, not eaten by worms
1785 Bar Copper
Damn these are tough. If I get just one in the next 3 years it will be a miracle.
Get more stuff that I hope no one knows I am collecting, yet.
Try to understand why "Betty's Walkers" put her name on slabs and took off some strong provenance for some awesome Walkers... specifically a few Charles Schultz walkers.
Upgrade a fee Danscos..
A close friend's son, sort of an honorary nephew, has developed some interest, and I want to keep encouraging him and seeding his collection with fun and interesting things while also turning him on to things he can look for in pocket change and/or pursue on a kid budget.
My own son, grown and very busy with work and life, has stayed alert to the hobby and once in a great while buys something outstanding for his own small but excellent collection; I want to attend a show or three with him and stay connected with what is interesting to him lately.
There are six US coins, two foreign gold types, and one ancient I'd still like to acquire for my lifetime collection; I expect I'll buy any one to three of these depending on what I encounter.
I also expect to do some selling this year; it seems like I've been winnowing forever but I still have at least a few dozen worthwhile collector coins that should just be with somebody else.
Other that mint subscriptions, the 250th anniversary gold issues from the mint and maybe one or two double eagles.
Throw a coin enough times, and suppose one day it lands on its edge.
Sell everything except Tibet.
I hope to have almost no coins left at the end of the year. And I hope to have no collectibles left at the end of 2027.

Downsize! I have a lot of common stuff, namely bulk world coins and face value moderns, that just takes up space. I'd really like to be down to just one 2x2 box and my two slab boxes, but I doubt that'll happen.
For additions, I'm mainly hoping to add more of the US Philippines issues to my collection. I have around a third of the total issues currently, mostly low grade raw coins
My coin collecting goals are always the same - find the occasional choice early federal type or colonial coin that just calls to me, the kind of coin I believe I will never feel the urge to sell…. A “keeper” or two, as it were, of no particular series.
This year will probably be very light on NEWPs though, I’m getting married again in October (I lost my first wife in 2023) and my fiancée and I are beginning a renovation of her current home, a somewhat historic late 19th century schoolhouse that was converted to a home decades ago. That should all be costly enough! Lol…. Happy New Year to all!
@GuzziSport . My house is an old 1870'S A frame farm house a town grew around. I always tell people we live in a RE house. Replumbed, rewired, rewalled, redoored etc. Good luck. Get use to hearing this phrase if you end up hiring people; "never seen that before!'. James
@seatedlib3991 Love that, I’m going to use it! And luckily, I don’t have to use the cursed “RE”…. That is REFINANCED! Lol

My one and only goal is to obtain a Morgan Proof with the CAM designation. Everytime I get close to having enough saved something came up in 2025.
A new furnace at $15,000.00 was a huge setback.
I will work overtime, sell a few things and be very careful about which proof I buy.
It will be a common date no doubt but it will need to be nice becasue its going to be a one time purchase.
Wish me luck.

Hopefully, I’ll be more active in 2026, as I was almost dormant in 2025. Goals would be to finish my SLQ one per date set, continue with my Seated liberty $ box of 20 and add some more semi-key Morgans and common date Morgans, as well.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

Simply stated...quit buying coins to fill a hole. Stop compromising on quality and eye appeal. Sell my mistakes from prior years. If I'm lucky, a new box of 20 coin.
I would like to find and add maybe half dozen Die Marriages for my CBH collection that I don't have (or ones that could be upgraded), preferably more difficult dates, varieties and rarity factors, and in 53/55/58 grades. I want these to be keeper coins that I can safely say I would probably not upgrade later (special circumstances not withstanding). I would also like to sell a few more of my duplicate DM's to fund one or two more for that collection.
Side projects will hopefully include a few coins for the raw sets, maybe a couple graded coins spanning other series and interests, and a few pieces of Currency if I'm lucky.

To appreciate that most coins that fascinate me will be offered again someday. I don’t HAVE to have it and I can and should be patient.

Got a gig doing some ANA representation at a show and clubs targeting new member recruitment.
Hopefully this will create some contacts and expanding my numismatic horizons.
Summer Seminar attendance is a goal.
As far as collecting, it will be a primarily 8TF VAM focus and VAM's in general.
I also want to learn more about Lincoln cents.

BORING!!!
Would definitely like to see more coins going out than coming in, but I will still be open to cool error coins or upgrades to my Lincoln or type sets.

Or….REPOSSESSED…..😩😬
Plan to purchase those coins that have exceptional eye appeal, along with good value. Really looking to add a nice 1916-D Merc., 1916 SLQ with FH, maybe a ‘55 DD, ‘14-D, 1877 IHC, or 1937-D 3 leg, but who knows!
Further downsize my collection.
@safari_dude . My house may have originally been built during the reign of Tiberius but it is paid for. james
I'm hoping to put together a few dollars and have two wants: an MS64 or 65 PCGS/CAC 1932-D Washington to finish my 1932-64 quarter set and a MS63BN or MS64BN 1922 no D cent PCGS/CAC to finish my 1909-58 Lincoln set. Only time will tell if it works out, or if it takes another year. Beyond that I have hundreds of honey-dos to keep me busy.
One or two of these to progress with my non-gold type set:
Half disme
SE half dollar
1796 quarter
Chain
Going for problem-free VF, easier said than done.
Maybe a 39/8 $10 to move the gold along.
A few foreign that circulated in the colonies as new types are uncovered.
I am just waiting to see what happens with the market. How many more premiums will evaporate?
Finish the box of 20 PCGS
Finish the Dansco 7070
Finish the ASE albulm
maybe get a Finnish coin...
It's all about what the people want...
I usually just buy nice coins that are priced right in the moment, but you encouraged me to focus on some key date halves this year. I have a wayte raymond album that would be neat to fill with some of the early date half dollars. I'm excited to see what you find!

I had a few members send me links for auctions but I am not ready yet to buy any coins. I need to save up for a while and will be ready to buy one mid 2026 then another coin late 2026. I have bills to pay like everyone and I am not rich so saving takes time.
I prefer collecting coins in lower circulated condition G04 to F12
I like the look of the new 1907 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle that the U.S. Mint is scheduled to release in 2026. But unless the price of gold drops a lot, I'll be on the sidelines.
Will hope for an issue of an ASE marking the 40th anniversary of the series.
Mid to high-end Peace & Trade dollars.
Thank you @lermish for the latter.
I will also make the first Type 1 Philly Ike in PC-67 to help fund these goals.
Edit: I went looking at prices and mid to high-end is a relative term but like they say:
Shoot for the stars but land on the moon...
Survival. I'll start with that.
