Just squeezed out a ML win with Rutgers. They were down by 6 with under a minute to play. Can't seem to lose lately.
Been staring at this Lakers game all day. Still can't fathom why the Lakers are only -1.5 in this game? But when I'm this confused, better off staying away from the ML or spread.
Super Bowl LX Winner
Los Angeles Rams +460
Seattle Seahawks +600
Denver Broncos +850
Buffalo Bills +850
Philadelphia Eagles +900
New England Patriots +1200
Houston Texans +1200
Green Bay Packers +1600
San Francisco 49ers +1700
Chicago Bears +1800
Jacksonville Jaguars +2000

Los Angeles Chargers +2500
Detroit Lions +2700
Tampa Bay Buccaneers +4000
Pittsburgh Steelers +5000
Carolina Panthers +22500
Indianapolis Colts +30000
I think I mentioned this last season, that at around this point in the season, it is rare that a long shot winds up winning the Super Bowl. Of course the playoffs haven't begun yet, but perhaps at this time an indicator could be provided based on the odds.
Best chance:
Los Angeles Rams +460
Seattle Seahawks +600
Denver Broncos +850
Buffalo Bills +850
Philadelphia Eagles +900
New England Patriots +1200
Houston Texans +1200
In the hunt, but tough odds:
Green Bay Packers +1600
San Francisco 49ers +1700
Chicago Bears +1800
Jacksonville Jaguars +2000
Baltimore Ravens +2000
Long shots:
Los Angeles Chargers +2500
Detroit Lions +2700
Prohibitive long shots:
Tampa Bay Buccaneers +4000
Pittsburgh Steelers +5000
Zero chance:
Carolina Panthers +22500
Indianapolis Colts +30000
Seems like some interesting opportunities today, along with the usual suck-in bets to make the bookies rich.
Two that jump out at me. The Dak Prescott prop at 200+ looks way too easy for a number of reasons, and that's what worries me. But it's too irresistible, so I'm playing it anyway.
Dak Prescott 200+
Now the Shedeur Sanders rushing prop. At -290 for just 5+ and almost even money for 10+ looks like a license to print money for a number of reasons. That's what really worries me. So I'm going to pass on that one. If it hits, then it hits.
.
So, for today's Raiders/Texans tilt, utilizing various profit boosts, I first got down 3 $25 bets, totaling $75, that the point total would go over 37.5. The payout will total $194.50, including my $75 bet.
.
.
.
.
Then, I placed 3 similar bets, totaling $101.99 on the total going under 38.5 points. That payout would total $193.28, including the $101.99 bet.
.
.
.
.
So, I have $176.99 invested in this bet, of which I'll win both bets if the number lands EXACTLY on 38, or else I'll win $16+ if it goes under and $17+ if it goes over.
.
But wait! Ladies and gentlemen, there's more!
Knowing I have a certain profit, I also made 2 unaided bets - $55 on the under 38.5 to pay $105 and $56 on the over 37.5 to pay $106, once again, a total of 38 pays both bets.
.
.
.
I know you're asking yourself, "Why would he do that?"
Well, DraftKings has a promotion that for every $25 in settled bets, you receive a $5 bonus bet. This bet, while yes, I lose either $5 or $6 if the total doesn't land on 38, returns me $10 worth of bonus bets, regardless.
.
.
A wise man once told me that if I was going to gamble, to remember these 3 things.
The only people that will tell you that you can't be a winner at gambling are the perpetual losers that can't be a winner at gambling.
.
Everyone wants to win, but not everyone really wants to be a winner. Everyone wants the jackpots, the longshots, the big paydays, but not everyone really wants to put the work in to be a winner if it's not coming quick or not a certain amount. Learn to be satisfied with any win. If you always stay on the positive side, the day your horse finally comes in, that payday is all profit!
.
If you can learn how to consistently win just $1 from the casino, you can win a million. All it takes is repetition/time or scaled up bets/bigger odds.
.
30+ years, and these words haven't let me down yet.

That being said, IMHO, that was a well disciplined ML parlay. I think the best situations for long term success in this sports betting venture, as far as picking game winners, are in well disciplined ML wagers. Also in certain prop bets.

the next time i say an NBA game is over before it's actually over, someone remind me that an NBA game is never over until it's actually over. not only did Boston come back to win that came last night, but they almost covered lol. so that was a nice little Christmas present on Dec 22, especially considering the other 3 legs of my lay didn't break. but then of course i turned right around and gave that win back and a little more when i couldn't get a steal from Jalen Williams. so close, yet so far away.
and speaking of OKC, tonight's rematch against the Spurs screams "steer clear." lots of unknowns. lots of prominent players who are game-time decisions. OKC played last night, SA didn't. every time i think about this game i come up with a different outcome. so i'm just going to sit this one out, enjoy it, and root for whoever parks some money on it.

It's a toughie that's for sure. Your "playing the next day" angle certainly has merit, and is in play here. But It's a "revenge" game for OKC working in their favor. OKC is only 2-2 in their past 4 games, and playing like mere mortals, also has to weigh in tonight's game result.
May not do it, but I'm contemplating a first quarter prop whereby OKC wins it. I think OKC may come out strong and motivated by the revenge factor. However the next day factor could mean OKC tires later in the game, and who knows what the spread or ML could wind-up?
Also could be a lot of missed shots. So I'm thinking about a rebound prop for one or possibly two players.

When you made that post I was like "That game is FAR from over lol
seeing as i lost that bet, i'm going to definitively answer your question.
YES
i had an itch to try something different, hence i rolled with a multi-leg SGP. i did my homework and honestly felt good about it.
OKC has the best defense in the league and Memphis is not a great team. if someone had told me prior to the game that the Thunder would have 14 steals and SGA, Williams and Wallace would play 36, 34 and 29 minutes, respectively, i wouldn't have changed a thing
SGA had 4 and Wallace had 1
Williams was hurt to start the season and had only played 9 games prior to last night. in those 9, he had a steal in 8 of them.
It is tough. Sometimes ya get caught in a precarious situation where you have a ML bet on a team, and say a points bet with a player on that team.
I forget the exact time of game on this, but at one point right around late 3rd Q or early 4th Q, OKC had around a 15 point lead, but I still needed 8 points to hit with SGA. I thought if OKC quickly popped the score up to say 25 or so, and SGA still needed 8, I'd be in deep trouble with the parlay. Because of course the coach might decide the game was in the bag, and to just sit his star player the rest of the game. I've gotten screwed a few times in this situation.
So I was in the weird position of rooting for the Grizzlies to get back in the game in order to get SGA the minutes needed to get the 8 points. I got my wish, and the Grizzlies pulled within 4 points.
Well SGA then hit a 3, and I knew then the coach wasn't taking him out. OKC as they usually do, put it into another gear, and drew away, and SGA easily covered the 24.5.
Football in a similar manner when sometimes you want the opposition to quickly score late in the game, to give your QB a chance to get some more yards needed to hit a prop. Even if that score by the opposition gets them back within striking distance to possibly ruin your ML bet.
Spurs won't have to wait long to try it again. They play on Christmas afternoon, this time at OKC.
OKC is -9.5
Tough to envision the Spurs winning that game against this team. Of course you never can tell for sure in the NBA, particularly against the spread. That being said, I'll be surprised if OKC doesn't come out steaming in this game. I'll also be surprised if the whales don't jump all over the OKC ML. I may be joining them. Be interesting to see if the line moves or not?
One thing in play here, when a dominant team begins to fade, it can sometimes happen quickly. OKC is only 2-3 in their last five games. Could their time be up? If they lose this game on Thursday, it would be arguable to think yes it may be up. So while that -9.5, considering that OKC just got blown out, in my opinion makes the OKC ML look like a lock, there is some danger involved here.
In any event, I've already decided I'll either play the OKC ML or pass on the game. Perhaps along with some OKC props.

The rooting can get complicated sometimes. LOL
Exactly why I kept him out of my bets tonight
I love the kid but I just don't trust him, he needs to put on 40+ pounds of muscle

Spurs be like, man if we could play the Thunder every game we'd go 82-0
just beat the tar out of them, hanging 130 on the league's best defensive team
and here's the scary part: Wemby only had 12
they are so deep
No idea who these guys are, I'm betting on African soccer because there is NOTHING on today β½
