Ole Miss is a wild with whats happening there but should be in
How does the Head Coach of a team with a chance to play for the National Championship do that to his team??
If Bama loses I doubt they get in with 3 losses.
I think they'll lose but still get in.

If Bama loses I doubt they get in with 3 losses.
I think they'll lose but still get in.
I dont see how. Right now all 3 polls have them at 10. The ACC winner and group of five team are both ranked below them. So that really puts Bama at the #12 spot. So another loss is sure not going to help their cause.
Ohio State, Indiana, Oregon all in.
ACC champ in
SEC champ in
Big 12 champ in
Highest ranked group of 5 team in
Notre Dame in(The voters love ND)
11-1 Ole Miss in
11-1 Texas A@M in
So that leaves only 2 spots left. Teams like Vanderbilt, Miami, Utah, and Oklahoma will be fighting for the last 2 spots.
After watching Vandy's QB and Mateer for Oklahoma, I'm all about Vandy getting in, and Oklahoma getting pushed out.
I like Utah so my hopes are Vandy and the Utes.
I hate Miami
I would pick Oklahoma over Vandy because they have a good defense, and have wins over Alabama and Michigan.
Cant argue that, I think Vandy's win over Tennessee is the only win barely worth talking about
They lost a close one to Texas but got smashed by Alabama
How can any reasonable CFP voter pick a different SEC team over Alabama?? Should playing in your Conference Championship count for nothing?
That’s the reason why it makes no sense to have had these SEC teams hanging around in the Poll, it only creates confusion, but I think it is the intended result. Texas and Vanderbilt have been up/down more times than a yo-yo. They’re good, they suck, they’re good, they suck and on and on. Right now nobody is sure what SEC team is good and what team sucks, so there are 4-5 of them hanging around.
The argument is equal parts who should get in and who should be out. In the end it’s a silly debate because they each will almost certainly lose in the first round. I know that stings if you’re an SEC loyalist but it’s the truth of the matter. The CFP Committee will cram so many SEC teams in the bracket that we’ll have a Conference Consolation game in the first round between 2 SEC teams that didn’t play in their championship.

i don't follow college football as closely as you guys do, so perhaps one of you can come along and explain to me why that was allowed to happen. the timing obliterates every ounce of common sense. Ole Miss just had one of their best seasons in school history, and prior to the very important next step another team within their conference was given the green light to wreck it by way of poaching the hc and other members of the coaching staff. which could potentially alter their seed.........which could potentially strip them of a home playoff game..........and which could potentially have an adverse effect on their overall run
I'm glad that Ole Miss told Kiffen to beat it, you want to go to LSU then there is the door, I wouldn't have let him coach through the playoffs in any way shape or form

idk if you kept up with it, but it got very contentious. he's a good coach, but he's also a total dickhead. every exit he has made has been acrimonious, save for maybe Florida Atlantic. he basically threatened Ole Miss -- either let me finish out the season or i'm going to strip the cupboard bare and take coaches & the best players with me. he had everything he could have possibly wanted, including a real shot at winning it all at a school that's never in contention. but instead he gave it all up and went scorched earth like he has done multiple times in the past. dude had the opportunity to be the most popular human being in the history of Mississippi and wanted no part of it.
now he's at a place where he's expected to win natties and quick. i say he flames out, gets fired, and will ultimately be right back where he started -- taking a lesser gig in an attempt to work his way back up the coaching hierarchy.
you should have seen the footage of Ole Miss fans who showed up at the airport when he climbed into a private LSU plane yesterday............they were all flipping him off and launching f bombs

I honestly don't follow it much, I stayed at a buddies house watching the games and we were watching college all day
They had a updated the clock on him making his decision and we heard about all the drama about him wanting to stay and coach even though he was out the door for LSU, the whole thing is crazy and ridiculous.
Personally I think these guys that are getting millions shouldn't be allowed to talk to other teams until their final game is played and their contract is up.
I hope LSU gets their rear ends handed to them while under Kiffen and he gets run out of the Bayou

Honestly it wasnt a a smart move. He took a bunch of the offensive staff with him and now Ole Miss is in a really bad spot. Only question is how much they get punished in the rankings for it tomorrow
Several of their elite players are very likely going to be leaving to follow him as well. Theyre in full panic mode icoaching wise mmediately naming the DC the full time head coach
As for Bama they will be in unless the committee turns themselves into a joke. They would be 1-1 against the SEC champion if they lose and the committee has said before and the conferences have made it clear (especially the SEC and the B!G) that they dont want teams punished for having to play an extra game.
If Bama gets knocked out of the playoffs for a loss in the conference championship against Georgia things will get really ugly. Theres no playoff deal in place at the moment and the SEC can really start throwing its weight around if such a dumb decision is made

Just two years ago, the CFP committee penalized a one loss Georgia team for losing the sec championship game. They got shut out of the playoffs over a lower ranked Texas team.

And the SEC and the B!G are in lock step that that isnt supposed to happen anymore to their conferences.

I don't think it should happen, either. I believe @coolstanley posted it to show there is precedent, so we shouldn't be surprised if it happens again.
Right, but you missed the whole part of the bargain that became with 12 team playoff we have today perhaps. The idea is that this should not happen anymore, but it could because the only statement the CFP committee really ever made was that they won't punish teams for losing a conf. champ game, but they could, and a bad loss could cause a team to get passed over... So interpret that however you want but it means next-to-nothing to me. They won't punish teams unless they punish them. But the difference is that it's easier to make sure you have the best 8 teams in a 12 team field than it is to ensure you have the 4 best teams in a 4 team field. It's science!
If Georgia beats Bama this forum is going to be fun.
Weiss Jr being allowed to finish the year at Ole Miss as the OC at the last second likely saved Ole Miss from getting punished. I have a strong suspicion that Kiffin is allowing it because of talks with players he wants to poach that didnt want to be left high and dry.
Ranking JMU over Navy is absurd. Neither deserved to be in the top 25 but if theyre going to do that it should be Navy. Sunbelt is trash this year

They have the same record and Bama has by far the better win
It was a smart move. Should have already happened anyways. Its a good setup to make sure the SEC and B!G teams that play in their championship game get in the playoffs which they should regardless of outcome.
They still have the Miami problem with ND but seem to be ignoring it. Miami beat Pitt by more on the road and beat ND head to head.

Its not how that just works for college football though. You cant wait if you want the top coaches. Theres been a ton of jobs coming open and between recruiting ,transfer portal and everything else if you wait until the season is over youre left out on the outside of who you really want for a coach.
A bunch of coaches have taken new jobs, some schools are letting them finish the season others aren't which is a decision that goes with both the old school and the new one.

Yea, well it sucks.
In pro football, I remember the year will Bill Parcels let be known the Wednesday before the Super Bowl that he was leaving the Patriots. The Patriots got rolled in the Super Bowl aftef working their butts off all season. Shame on Parcels and shame on the sportswriter who made a big deal out of his “scoop.” Oddly enough, that sportswriter died not too long after that.

Its not ideal but with the calendar its hard to figure out a better situation with the CFB playoffs going into January which is already in the new semester for college. Maybe putting the transfer portal after that and not allowing academic penalties for it but it kind of is what it is with no good solution.
College football HC is the hardest job in sports coaching wise. You have to recruit HS players, transfer portal players, and your own team so you dont lose players. Teams cant afford to wait. North Texas or Tulane will be the G5 playoff team both are losing their HCs and letting them finish the season
NFL is definitely a different story where theres no reason for a coach to leave early unless theyre about to get fired or some insanely better offer

Lol beat them barely while ND crushed them. Both ND losses were by a combined 4 points. While Bama got crushed by a team with a losing record.
If I were a gambling man, Im taking ND over Bama on a neutral field.
Thats just because you dont like any SEC team
Beating Georgia is by far a better win than any ND win and ND lost both games to the two playoff caliber teams they played
So? Who says Notre Dame couldn't beat Georgia? They beat them last year in the playoffs.
Both Oklahoma and Auburn showed me that Bama is not a better team than ND.
Last year is last year when they barely beat them with Georgia having a QB making his first start from their QB getting hurt and the best punter in college football injured as well in the SEC title game.

You call winning by TWO td's barely winning? LOL HILARIOUS.
Notre Dame had key injuries as well, including their best player Jeremiyah Love who suffered a rip injury during the Stanford game.
don't get me wrong, i love you guys, but man y'all spend an inordinate amount of time on who should be in, which conference is the best, etc
anyone care to actually break down a huge game like OSU/Indiana instead?
what are you guys thinking? can the Hoosiers hang? can they make a real statement heading into the playoffs? are there any -- heaven forbid -- actual predictions amid this group? does anyone give a shit? 😂
here's my impartial take. i have no dog in this fight and not a dime on this game as of this moment. i think this year's Buckeyes team is the most complete i've seen in a very long time. both sides of the ball. no holes, no weaknesses. better than last year's squad. i think they have a very good QB in Sayin, i like what i've seen out of Bo Jackson, and of course Smith & Tate are nightmares for opposing defenses. and speaking of defenses, OSU's is ridiculous. 93 points given up the entire season. that's 7.75 points per game for those scoring at home. on average, if the offense scores a touchdown and kicks a field goal, they win the football game right then and there.
i'm going to be honest, i'm a little surprised that this line is only -4.5. and it shrunk to that number. i know Indiana has a very good team as well, but are they on the same level with OSU? i can't wait to find out.
would genuinely be interested to know what you guys think. but if you want to completely eschew it and instead talk ad nauseam about who would win if Kentucky and Minnesota met in a dark alley and fought, that's fine too.
OSU and TT have the two legit defenses. OSU hasn’t really faced a top offense so I look forward to seeing how Mendoza can do against their secondary. If there were two teams in the B1G that can match up with strengths on their lines it’s these 2.

@galaxy27, you make some good points. I think the Big 10 game is sort of the elephant in the room and it almost comes across as the Championship Game about a month early. Of course I’m a Buckeye fan and think they’ll win but I try not to get too overconfident. Anything can happen and Indiana deserves all the praise they’ve gotten, I just think Ohio State is too complete.
I know Michigan isn’t a powerhouse this season but they are well coached, always play good defense, it was a home game for them and there’s that rivalry thing!! Ohio State gave anyone watching an idea of just how good they CAN be.
On defense, they allowed the Wolverines to gain about 100 yards early on 4-5 plays. The other 38 plays gained about 55 yards!! That’s sick. On offense it’s hard to see how Sayin can complete almost 80% of his passes, how open the receivers can get and how nicely the passes are thrown. And who doesn’t like a guy named Bo Jackson?? Together with Donaldson they can run when they need to, I think they had a 20 play 12 minute drive. Who doesn’t that??
Yeah, I think they’ll win, but it’s football and anything can and often does happen.

Georgia, Bama, Indiana, OSU OU, TT, Oregon, A&M are all in
The committee would have to have a big change in voting for an SEC or B!G team to be penalized for a conference championship loss leaving them out.

idk if you kept up with it, but it got very contentious. he's a good coach, but he's also a total dickhead. every exit he has made has been acrimonious, save for maybe Florida Atlantic. he basically threatened Ole Miss -- either let me finish out the season or i'm going to strip the cupboard bare and take coaches & the best players with me. he had everything he could have possibly wanted, including a real shot at winning it all at a school that's never in contention. but instead he gave it all up and went scorched earth like he has done multiple times in the past. dude had the opportunity to be the most popular human being in the history of Mississippi and wanted no part of it.
now he's at a place where he's expected to win natties and quick. i say he flames out, gets fired, and will ultimately be right back where he started -- taking a lesser gig in an attempt to work his way back up the coaching hierarchy.
you should have seen the footage of Ole Miss fans who showed up at the airport when he climbed into a private LSU plane yesterday............they were all flipping him off and launching f bombs

I look forward to Saban's comments in the Kiffin documentary coming to Netflix in 2045.
Oregons OC expected to get hired as the Kentucky HC soon.
Penn State seems to be focused on the BYU coach

He wanted to finish the season Ole Miss said no which is why he went scorched earth poaching coaches. Players will be next
He wanted the bigger contract at the school thats a better job and easier to recruit at

Little surprised BYU didnt drop.
Glad to see Bama jump ND.

I dont agree with Bama jumping ND because I think ND is a better team. ND dont have any bad losses. Bad move by the committee.

I am fed up the leadership at LSU. They could not wait until the end of the college season. I have another team to root against. May they go 0 and 11 depending upon how many games they play.

Ole Miss was the one that old him no. As stated which was recently announced the OC is going to be allowed to stay the rest of the season
Fire AJ Preller
Since ND 10 game win streak, they have dominated on both sides of the ball.
They whipped Arkansas, a team that Ole Miss, Texas A@M, Tennessee, and LSU all struggled against.
Notre Dame 56 Arkansas 13
Ole Miss 41 Arkansas 35
Texas A@M 45 Arkansas 42
Tennessee 34 Arkansas 31
LSU 23 Arkansas 22

LSU should not have gotten involved until the season was over. That was my point.
They all beat them.
ND lost to Miami and A&M
Fire AJ Preller
Lol beat them barely while ND crushed them. Both ND losses were by a combined 4 points. While Bama got crushed by a team with a losing record.
If I were a gambling man, Im taking ND over Bama on a neutral field.

Fire AJ Preller
Thats just because you dont like any SEC team
Beating Georgia is by far a better win than any ND win and ND lost both games to the two playoff caliber teams they played
Fire AJ Preller
Yea, well it sucks.
In pro football, I remember the year will Bill Parcels let be known the Wednesday before the Super Bowl that he was leaving the Patriots. The Patriots got rolled in the Super Bowl aftef working their butts off all season. Shame on Parcels and shame on the sportswriter who made a big deal out of his “scoop.” Oddly enough, that sportswriter died not too long after that.
So? Who says Notre Dame couldn't beat Georgia? They beat them last year in the playoffs.
Both Oklahoma and Auburn showed me that Bama is not a better team than ND.

Fire AJ Preller
Last year is last year when they barely beat them with Georgia having a QB making his first start from their QB getting hurt and the best punter in college football injured as well in the SEC title game.
Oklahoma is a playoff team.
Fire AJ Preller

Ohio State's defense goes up against one of the best offenses every day in practice.
