I won one of the very last types needed for my 7070 at HA last night. My 7070 set is not the first coin set I’ve ever assembled, nor is it the first registry. It is, I hope, a culmination of my collecting experiences up to this point in that I have avoided a lot of mistakes of the past, have developed my eye for quality far beyond what it was years ago (I hope), and have a lot more patience than I used to.

I also have made an effort to include as many tougher dates as possible throughout my set. Oh, you’ll find plenty of “generic” dates with superb eye appeal like my 1904 Liberty nickel, 1923 Peace dollar, 1868 shield nickel, and 1956 Washington quarter…….but I’ve tried to include as many tougher dates as I can without compromising eye appeal or quality (mistakes I’ve definitely made in the past).

Most definitely had to pay up for this coin, but man I’m excited about this one.

Congratulations on obtaining a great coin, an issue that I have always wanted one of myself! (But not enough to fork over ...)

    Jim, that worked, thanks!
Wouldn’t be surprised if a file size limit on file uploads has been implemented or made more restrictive.

That is a really nice example of the 1839-o obverse mintmark half dollar !!

This is a coin that is on my bucket list as the 1838-o will most likey elude me...

Lovely example of an obverse mint mark type (there ain’t that many!), and a super VF!

I love its light circ ‘skin’, which is rare in a coin that old

@HCumberdale . Wonderful collection. My favorites are the 1837 GR-3 and the 1839-O GR-4. Two different poles but both great coins. I only have a 37 GR-9, 38 GR-4 and a 39 I've never nailed down. Stupid computer boots me after each pic. I view; Does your collection show die crack progresssion? Thanks for posting appreciated this more than you could ever know. James

Man, you guys are not disappointing! Some absolutely awesome coins being posted here.

Appreciate all the kind words……and for those touting the series, the ‘39o date, or the attributes of the particular coin I picked up, I couldn’t agree more!

Very excited to get her in hand.

    Very nice looking coin.
Because of the placement of the MM on the obverse, above the date, and centered at the bottom, I really like it.
I'm not a bust half collector, but it was a "must have" for me.
Mine is only a VG10 PCGS w/ CAC, so not as nice as yours, but it was within budget when I was collecting.

I like the details and looks of yours as well. Nice pick up!

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Probably my favorite issue ever. I think I currently own 8 examples of 1839-O from Poor-1 to AU-58, one example with a removed mintmark (hah!), another example with a reverse turned love token. I have a few of the rarer varieties (but alas, neither of the R-8 issues).

I love the reeded edge halves in general and have a registry set by die variety if anyone cares to peek:

Very cool and underappreciated coins IMHO!

I like the look of your VF30 in the registry , and would be very interested to see the PO-01 and other examples you speak of if you have images handy,

    Thanks for sharing!
