Like always, baseball guy spouting nonsense. First of all, having the most draft picks, he just admitted that Ohio State deserved to be the #1 seed last year, because they had the most draft picks. Yet he goes on to say that Ohio State should've had a road game in the playoffs
Having the most conference drafts picks, doesn't mean they had the best teams. And the SEC clearly did not have the best teams last year. The BIG TEN also had the most playoff teams last year.
SOS is an absolute joke. Look at the pre season rankings. There is no way Oklahoma should be ranked, let alone in the top 20. They had a losing record last year, and the experts predict that they might have another losing season this year, and will be lucky to make a bowl game. But yet all the SEC homies wanted them ranked, so the other SEC teams can have higher SOS rankings.

OSU had 14, Georgia had 13, Texas had 12. Oregon had 10, Olae Miss had 8, LSU, Bama FL and Michigan had 7. 18 picks in the first round were from the SEC and 13 in the 2nd round.
Georgia was the best team last year and lost their QB and the best punter in the country in the SEC title game playing the extra game OSU didnt have to play. They had a guy starting his first game ever in the playoffs and still almost won.
SOS Tennessee would have been the home team in the first round. Just be happy that the most egregious holding of all time wasnt called on the OSU RT on third and long that would have ended the drive that resulted in a TD.
When you play harder schedules guys get hurt and worn down. The whole point of implementing SOS if the committee does it as instructed is that losing to a top team wont hurt you much, beating a bad team like Perdue wont help you much, and losing to an average or bad team will significantly hurt your rankings
Once again basebal guy, NO sec teams did not play harder schedules. They only played 8 conference games compared to 9 conference games in the BIG TEN and BIG 12.
And no Georgia was not the best team last year. Notre Dame would've beaten them with or without Beck. Georgia just barely beat 4-8 Kentucky by one point, and beat a bad Georgia tech team by 2 points. Georgia got trounced by ole miss. They were barely a top ten team.
Lol the B!G is a 4 team league where more than half the teams sucked last year and the Big 12 sucked last year. Yes Georgia was the best team that lost their QB and and the best punter in the league that could flip the field by 70+ yards in the SEC championship.
Georgia would have won if they just didnt have to play their conference championship like OSU didnt have too and you can keep saying whatever you want but the fact of the matter is is SOS was part of it like its supposed to be going forward than the playoff looks much different
SOS only means something prior to the first game and after the season. That's when SEC homers talk about how good their conference is and why SEC teams should be in the playoffs - - - "But, but, but look at who we played!!"
SOR only seems to matter, well, it really doesn't matter at all since it changes as the games get played. It might figure into the rankings but once a team's schedule is set in stone all that remains is to JUST WIN BABY and everything will take care of itself.
Case in point, last season...............................Ohio State played all the weak Big 10 schools --- SOS --- and then steamrolled everyone in the playoffs to a Championship. Alabama struggled to a 5-3/9-4 season record --- SOR --- and complained when they were left out of the playoff because their SOS was so rugged.

Georgia was not a great team with or without Beck if you take off your sec goggles. But it doesn't really matter anyway, because injuries is part of the game. Like Florida State going undefeated two years ago, and then losing their QB to injury. That's the name of the game. The BIG TEN has had the best bowl record the last two years and went 5-1 against the SEC in bowl games last year. The sec also did not do well in the playoffs last year. Seems you still haven't learned anything because you keep spouting nonsense.

You still seem to not understand how opt outs impact bowl games and how teams not in the playoffs have the most of them. Then you look at the draft and see where the most came from. Bowl games outside of the playoffs dont mean anything anymore which is why the playoffs are being expanded.
You also seem to forget that every playoff game in the first round the road team lost. Every team with a bye lost the next round. Its true injuries are part of the game and from tough schedules the SEC teams were dealing with more of them in the playoffs including Georgia and Texas. Georgia used less than half of their playbook with a first time starter at QB. Beck wasnt great by any means last year but still better than someone making their first ever start.
You do know the B!G has proposed a 24 or 28 team playoff as well moving forward which is just to many. We dont need to see a service academy getting blown out and both the SEC and B!G are getting sick of the G5 teams forcing their way into it outvoting them and ND having a singular vote like theyre their own conference.
Both QBs sucked. Texas had some terrible stupid penalties that lead to a TD and a safety being negated.
Texas lost that game more than OSU won it. Even though its just one game and it wont end a season, Texas could very well have a QB problem. They clearly dont trust Manning and he showed why they dont. Theres a reason he rode the bench for 2 years. A lot of people thought he should have been a 3 or 4 star and got the bump to 5 stars because of his last name and at least today he proved those people right myself included
Well, now that Ohio State has beaten Texas we get to endure the onslaught of @Basebal21 and his excuses. My observations:
--- Texas was the number 1 team with Ohio State as number 3. Ohio State should now be ranked number 1.
--- Another SEC powerhouse has fallen to an over-rated Big 10 team.
--- Arch Manning has shown that his enshrinement in the NFL HOF is premature.
--- Proof has again been given that Defense wins championships.
--- After several months, the same 2 teams and the same result.
"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety," --- Benjamin Franklin
Sayin looked pretty good. Very accurate QB. He should've easily had over 200 yds but there were several dropped passes. Defense looked solid. Didnt give up a point until 3 minutes left in the 4th quarter against the heisman favorite.
Id like to know where Paul Finebaum and the Texas sports writer are right now?
My guess is we’re going to hear about the play calling more than anything. But that was one of the worst offensive performances I’ve seen from a #1.
I thought Texas would have the edge there. I think it’s early to be making judgement on Manning’s future but that was definitely a real bad first half.
i said this in the gambling thread and i'll say it here. UT has its pick of the litter in a state with a hotbed of high school talent. trust me, i know. i live here. i see it in the flesh every year. hell i saw it last night. so to be the supposed #1 team in the land and trot out 11 guys in a monstrous game who look like they don't know that passing the football is an option is a borderline fireable offense. straight-up disgraceful to look that inept when you have access to those types of resources. oh, but then you finally decide to act like someone impaled your ass with a hot poker when you're down 14 in the middle of the 4th? that only makes it worse, imo.
Texas absolutely got what it deserved. they are paper tigers until proven otherwise, and i personally think Sarkisian is a poser wearing a headset
otoh, congrats to OSU. limited their mistakes and made the requisite plays to win
OSU's offensive line deserves a ton of credit. Texas' offense looked like 11 guys who had never played football before for 3.5 quarters, but their defense is legit. i really thought they would bring a raging inferno to Sayin for four quarters. but OSU's front 5 kept his jersey clean and minimized the duress (zero sacks), and that resulted in zero turnovers.

Sarkisian definitely had some questionable play calls in key moments and Texas did more to lose the game than OSU did to win it. That said with how Manning was under throwing everything or throwing it behind guys its kind of hard to blame him for such conservative play calling.
They have 3 games in a row that should be automatic wins and one of the more favorable (maybe the easiest) SEC schedule but Manning is going to have to get significantly better if theyre going to do anything
That said with how Manning was under throwing everything or throwing it behind guys
the miss to Wingo on 3rd down was catastrophic. if Manning hits him in stride there, all of a sudden Downs is on an island trying to bring a gazelle to the ground
probably would've been inside the red zone at worst
I got bored with the Ohio - Texas game and turned it off. From what I could see, the Texas coarch has no imagination, and young Mr. Manning needs to get a lot better to live up to his hype.
It's a shame, but the Texas championship season is over after the first game.

Manning was off target on 37 percent of his passes. Thats terrible. Theyre going to be fighting for their life every game if he doesnt get better
Manning honestly looked like he was lost half the time where there were clear times he could have taken off running and just didnt
Another 9-3 8-4 season on the way for Bama. Williams getting hurt is a huge loss but theyre never going to do anything as long as Debour is bringing the West Coast softness to the program. Simpson was okay but for every good play he made he also made a bad one or had a bad miss. Theres a reason hes been there 4 years and even crappy Milroe started over him.
FSU was also underrated based off their record last year. They had a lot of very good transfers come in and the ACC championship will almost certainly be some combination of them, Clemson, and Miami barring big injuries
Ohio State deserves the credit for playing well and limiting the penalties, they played disciplined football and won without Jeremiah Smith playing out of this world.
Taking all. that away, Manning looked like crap and the play calling was absurd
