Our collections are always evolving.
So what is your favorite coin in your collection currently?
Maybe you don't have a favorite that's fine you might enjoy them all equally.

Not just my favorite coin in my collection, but also my favorite US coin issue, period. Nothing as iconic and historic, IMO.
Good question and a tough decision. Probably this coin, the toning is amazing. Bought a roll of 79-S 20 years ago on EBAY. Just started my Morgan collection and wanted a roll, but not a put together roll of commercial UNCs. Seller didn't have the best photos but he noted had purchased in the 70's. Still have the roll, average grade is 63.
I have no favorite coin. I have 3,565 coins (sets of any kind count as one), so picking favorites is not on my list. There are only three gold pieces, two Peace Dollars, one coin before 1930. There are many to enjoy, and no need to limit that to one. Certainly nothing wrong with that, just not for me.
At the moment my 1752 Peru 2 reales first year (no 1751's are known to exist) of milled coinage with a mintage of only 208 pieces per Yonaka (1753-1771 have much larger mintages 50 000+). Most Latin American coins from Peru and Guatemala are holed since it was custom to hang the coins on a rope or sowed into clothing.

One overall favorite? I don't think I could do that any more... I think I have favorites among sets. For all the copper I have, I like this one the best even though it's not the priciest in my collection:

I only have a handful of coins in my modest "Box of Ten" collection; this is my favorite. I bought it raw in an eBay auction for straight-grade price in November, 2021. I was the only bidder!

The are stuck in what was newly isolated platinum discovered in the Caucasus Mountains. Their popularity waned as their value was tied to the similar gold rubles and they were recalled. A portion according to legend was melted and passed to faberge by the Czar who then made it into jewelry which helped popularize it across Europe.

My most recent addition is one of my best / all-time favorite coins: a double-signed Kimon facing tetradrachm. It's more of a specialist coin than an Eid Mar denarius or Colosseum but it's one of the great rarities of Greek coinage.
It dates back to 406BC and was minted by Syracuse to thank the god Arethusa (shown on the obverse) for protecting them against the Carthaginians.
The reverse shows the horses in disarray: the rider made an unexpected move which surprised the horses and ultimately led to their victory (as evidenced by Nike crowning the rider).
The lettering and horse hooves breaking outside of the dotted border are deliberate artistic choices, showing that they can't be contained or restrained.
Earlier attempts at facing portraits often resulted in dies breaking: historically, the portrait was on the reverse of the coin but the engraver realized if they place the portrait on the front, the dies remained viable for longer, hence, "heads" is the head side.

I agree with you that's why I started the thread. It doesn't have to be the highest valued coin to be your favorite.

I don’t have a favorite but this coin is high up for a couple of reasons. I always wanted a 55 DDO since I was a kid and this one isn’t too shabby. Secondly this was from a raw 90% completed Lincoln set which also had a 1909-S VDB. I bought the set at a small local auction which sells mostly jewelry for $100. The 09-S VDB wound up in P/C 35 holder.
For me, like others have said, impossible to answer this with one coin. Right now, though, there’s this - my complete variety set of FE PR’s to be marketed by Paradime Coins for sale on 9/1. A couple minor changes & then it goes to publication:

I have many, many favorites, but somehow I am drawn to this 1797 silver dollar. It's far from the most valuable piece I have, but what gets me is that its so perfect for the grade, which is EF-45. I would rather have a set of EF-45s which look like this instead a group of run of the mill AU-50s.
What is right about it?
I bought this piece from the late Jim McGuigan. He told me that it had been in the collection of a very exacting collortor who had recently passed on. Jim told me that the collector had been working on a set of early dollars similar to this when he died.

I couldn't possibly choose my ONE favorite coin. Heck, I would be hard-pressed to narrow it down to 20 candidates for my favorite.

This is my favorite top coin. This beautiful coin is the ONLY Ultra Cam Barber quarter for 1912. PCGS has graded only one DCAM for 1912 which is a 66DCAM. The old and the new!
Like many others, I have many favorites. This one sticks out today. PR68 CAC.
