Let’s not get carried away with this thread. The stock market is a bet on the future. The sports card market can be both leisure and/or a bet on the future. Neither is an indicator of how the economy is doing (in the present).
I'm not seeing much leisurely behavior, but I am seeing a lot of kids, adults, and even pro ballplayers going bonkers over pulling "rare" cards from expensive modern packs. Hoarding is a common activity amongst our crowd. I believe that the sports card market is most definitely a window into the mood of our economy.

Oh, thread cleaned up and back on track. My opinion for what it's worth. This is an adult hobby that also has evolved into an alternate asset class. Blue-chip, high grade will remain strong and maybe even inch upward. Football has been undervalued for years.... kind of surprising considering the popularity of the sport. You can get a GOAT (Brady) for approximately 50% off all-time highs (Bowman, Bowman Chrome). Boggs, not a clue... pump & dump or maybe subset of Hall of Fame heavy drinkers? I do agree that there will soon be a buying opportunity as more and more folks experience corporate layoffs or head into retirement.

Speaking of prices rebounding...I bid on and was looking to upgrade my Clemente RC from a PSA-6.5 to a PSA-7.5. I tapped out at $30,000...with the card approaching early decade prices...and selling for $36,600 in a Goldin Auction ending this past weekend!
Huge news just a few minutes. Everybody strapped in and ready for the biggest bang in the card world since 1987..The moment has arrived and the prices will be climbing fast.
Is it Topps cards sell for more??? Please tell me it is so!!
Im all in on topps!
I really need a win.
Few min is less than 1 hour right?
Let’s go big money as long as I’m not spending mine!
I do enjoy reading these post
I'd say the news is big. Maybe large. Or vast. But, huge is kinda like that triple-decker burger that you can't even take a normal bite. It would need to be that huge to be huge.
The 1952 topps warehouse cases were never thrown In the Atlantic and have been found at an abandoned best western! Every average joe can now buy one for the same price of eating at McDonald’s. This is very exciting indeed. But I did hear talk about making a big splash. They want to throw 99.9% of them in the ocean and keep the prices high. I think they are just gona hide them again and sink the empty cases.

I picked up a few of the 1952 cases from Jenny - who used to be on the board unloading nice unopened cases. Where you able to get one?
a few updates for you ( if you don't follow these items, but find it interesting).
1985 donruss ryan psa 10 sold for $550. Clemens sold for $350. HUH??? Love Ryan but this makes no sense. I would guess that Clemens rookies will soon rise.
1985 leaf ryan psa 10 sold for $1,275
Currently there is not one 1992 Pinnacle Manny sgc 10 or psa 10 on ebay -- found that a little strange.
1992 Pinnacle psa 10's are rare for anyone apparently. Hardly any on EBAY. Currently Nolan ryan psa 10 at $230 in a current auction.
1989 Glossy Johnson PSA 10 up to $450 only 1 on ebay currently. asking price $950 or best offer..

At a time like this and with a thread like this, I’m saddened that we can’t get a hot take from

1987 topps barry bonds psa 10's now selling for $500 plus, incredible.
Was this the huge news from the other day? I’ve been strapped in for safety for 2 weeks.

Is it still going to happen? I’m not lying when I say you’ve piqued my curiosity to the point that I’ve shared my anticipation with my cat.
Pretty amazing considering the huge pop. I should've kept my 87 OPC Bonds PSA 9.
Terry Bradshaw was AMAZING!!
Ohio State Buckeyes - National Champions
I have 3 cut card cases of 87 OPC, maybe I’ll crack one open this week
THose are at $900++ right now. I sold my 10 for 1250 -- 10 years ago.
It's sort of happening now. WHen the big big splash happens, you will know it. COuld happen next moth. strong possibilities.

No I’m an average joe
They were cheap, only 5k apiece. Couldn't pass them up.
That’s like 5,000 small fries!! Could feed me for 7 years.
