That's a really cool 1887 IHC. I also have an IHC with a gold CAC sticker on it in MS65RD, but it's in an old NGC holder so it is off limits for this thread.

It definitely has 66 eye appeal in hand, very clean watery fields. It could be that the spot on the “V” held it back from “exceeding” at CAC. I’m quite pleased with it, and it’s in my favorite generation holder.

That's coin discrimination, you have been warned...LOL ;)

@pcgsregistrycollector nice barber but this thread is intended to exclude rattlers (see title)

It's hard for me to believe I hadn't posted this coin already since I wrote a ginormous thread on the toned 1939-D Mercury dimes that can sometimes be found. There is lots of backstory for this coin in that thread, but I will leave it here with simply saying I've owned this particular coin since the FUN show in January, 2001.

    Wow! 😦

As soon as I saw the top-third of the IHC obverse scroll onto the page, I knew what coin it would be. I bet it looks amazing in-hand.

Finally, this one was posted by the seller. I’m posting it as the buyer:

Hey Ken, this is the same coin you shared with me earlier right? The pictures didn’t show it was a 65RB WITH GOLD CAC! Fantastic!! Zack
