Not me, my wife! Late evening my daughter wanted the wife to make waffles (picture) but she didn't have sugar so they went to Safeway. She came back and handed me this... 3 nice silver quarters 52, 60 and 63....! I trained her well... :D

Hey Joe, is that Mexican coin a an early 1950s 25¢ ? If so it is worth about a dollar in 25% silver.

Hi Joe, The 50 pfennig coin is from West Germany. (a pfennig is roughly a "penny") 1972 was the year the Olympics were held in Munich. The F mint mark on the coin indicates the Stuttgart mint. I found out recently that the image of the lady planting a young tree sapling was meant to be symbolic of a new beginning for the country and hope for tomorrow after World War II.

$3.01 found, only one silver dime and a proof quarter, and a dime that seems to be missing its coating.

    Hey CR,
    1952. Thanks for the heads-up!!!

You are welcome. I recently found one of these in a bin of cheap foreign coins, and that's what made me think of it.

No silver, but after months of a dry spell, I got 2 Quarters and a Dime today.

  • blitzdudeblitzdude Posts: 6,149 ✭✭✭✭✭

No gutter metal but at least I didn't get skunked. 17 cents US, a British half penny and 11 cents Canadian. Someone holed the 1970 Canadian cent and counterstamped it with Free Mason logo. RGDS!

Walmart this morning. 4 foreign coins. $1.15 in clad and memorials. And a 1961-D Roosevelt dime. First silver in over a year. :)

    (7) clad halfs

Other miscellaneous coins, including a Canadian $2 coin.

Roughly $60 worth of coins for a few seconds of lost dignity. :D

Wow, that's quite nice. I have only found a zincoln and an elongated zincoln this year so far.

I figured someone knew about pre-65 90% silver but not about 40%. Oh well, I'm the victim. 😀

Here are my totals for silver from the coin star.

2023- Four dimes, 1919, 1942-S, 1963, 1964-D (I only started keeping track of random change in October, but I noted $1.45 for those three months.

2024- Two dimes, 1962-D, 1963-D, one quarter, 1953-D. Plus $9.60 in random change, and a few foreign coins.

    2025 so far $0.02.

Went out for a loaf of bread and found these at a Safeway Coinstar today.
    $11.52 Canadian
    $3.61 U.S including the 7 silver dimes
    5c Euro
    1 pfennig
    and a Chucky Cheese token

    That's quite a haul.

I save my Canadian, and even though the Canadian Dollar is very low right now, the few hundred dollars worth that I've built up should get me something on a future trip to Canadia. :)

I think the weirdest thing I've found in a coinstar machine, and this was in the last month, was a Mexican 1921 50 Centavos coin in VF.

I found around $1 loose change but no silver so I chunked it back in the slot.
