A great example why one should differentiate between various types of details coins. A great coin. IMO the flaw adds rather than detracts.

I think this one was the biggest coin I’ve ever seen. I took this picture out of a car window in Long Beach on my way to one of the Long Beach Coin Shows
And this is probably the biggest coin in terms of what it is worth that I’ve ever held and photographed when I visited Stacks Gallery in Boston earlier this year

This 1884CC was cracked from an ANACS UDM slab. Tye scratch is on the plastic not the coin.

Agree @Eldorado9. @braddick, you are a good man.
Spent hours and hours years ago taking these pics of my coins. Nikon Coolpix point and shoot 4MB camera with "macro" lens. Had only 2 to 6 inches distance available for lighting.
Technology and talent have certainly improved. Mostly talent.

I personally won't take offense to @braddick's post, but it certainly doesn't fit in with any of the coins in this thread. Generally, it is that kind of posting that was the stimulus for me to create this thread, so we could get away from parking lot finds and TPG madness. However, if he still wants to post it, that's his prerogative.

@FullHorn These are two of the most beautiful Buffalo nickels I have ever seen! The strike quality on both is astounding! So solid in fact, that they look like proof coins! (maybe they are? I honestly cannot tell!)

@crazyhounddog has some drop dead gorgeous Buffalo nickels, and those are at the quality level of his coins which are probably some of the best eye appealing coins I have witnessed anywhere. That man is THE authority on Buffalos in my world! Anyway, I just had to take a moment to give some love to your Buffalos because I will be honest, I am not really a Buffalo nickel fan, but I would welcome those coins into my collection without hesitation and pay a hefty premium for them on top of that! Why not a nice example of the coin that got the U.S. gold series started, the 1795 half eagle? I believe that this type was introduced in the summer of 1795. I waited a long time to get my first example of the eagle holding up the laural wreath design.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?7 -

Minted in either Philly or Denver in 1967 and has been in my possession since 1967 or 1968 when I found this coin (which I call Smoke On The Water due to it's DEEP PURPLE color) in pocket change. The True View photo lightens the color on the coin; in hand it truly is Deep Purple in color except for the Lincoln Memorial which is black. The coin has booming luster under the purple toning.
