Great Britain 1819 crown (5 shillings, .925 fine silver - British currency was expressed in pounds sterling, which gave rise to the description of anything produced in silver of this fineness as being made of "sterling silver"). Raised edge lettering: "ANNO REGNI LIX DECUS ET TUTAMEN" (translation: "REGNAL YEAR 59 AN ORNAMENT AND A SAFEGUARD" ) The edge lettering often seen as protection against filing off of the precious metal around the edge.

Reason I ask is because I also have a 1913-S type 2 which is an 8 times 8 too. I guessed yours was that grade due to the soft strike that happens on this issue. This is mine-

Yeah, I agree. However, I bought mine for the color...as is my wont.
Mine also has that oval shaped "device" attached to it as well.
I apologize if any of the threads I post contribute to the boredom anyone feels. I just enjoy coin collecting. I promise not to start anymore threads for a while.
Here's a raw Morgan I really do like. It's been wiped but the mirrors and contrast are really nice.

some basic coins I Photographed about 10 years ago, but no longer own. I don’t own a lot of coins right now.
and my photography is amateur at best. no tripod or stand. just free hand with an old Mark Iv camera.
Al, thanks for this. I got into the hobby when Jesus walked at Eboli because I was interested in the coins themselves, and imagined what stories they could tell if they could speak. Grading is important, but to me, the coin is what the hobby is about. If I want to make money, that's why I work for a living.

I'm surprised no one has shown an America the Beautiful 5-ounce silver coin which is by far the largest and heaviest coin ever produced by the US Mint.

Thanks Alex. Nice composite.
For the viewers, several of the holders are beat up, so the lines you see are on the holders, not the coins.

Any marks you see are grossly exaggerated from casting shadows when imaging. This peace dollar is pretty clean.
