Very hard to see with the toning and TV. Grading coins based on one TV is hardly reliable. And yes, buying coins off of the internet based on a picture is like buying coins sight unseen in a way. Sometimes you get the coin and it’s a dog in hand or opposite. Caveat emptor!
Bennybravo. I still need to view it in hand, but I thought it might rival the finest known MS67+ (pop 1/0). That MS67+ coin I just happen to have in a safe box as I was in the process of assembling the finest known “Zerbe” 1904 USPI collection when I was told these (5) new coins were heading my way. Perhaps PCGS will get to see all (12) high quality specimens together later this month. The top set already has in it all finest known MS68, MS68, MS68 and MS67+ (10C, 20C, 50C and Peso). It’s a cool mini collection of 7 coins - 1904 World Fair “Zerbe” USPI set.

That looks like a staple to me, I saw the chatter around it but thought them trivial. Still a lovely coin. So marks hurt the soul more than than others

If you take a look at the other silver coins in the set (the 10C, 20C and 50C), they are all lovely toners just as the Peso is. These other silver coins are all graded MS66 - MS67 by PCGS! Concerning the Peso, I last sold an MS66+ example in 04/21 for $43,200 at Heritage! In today’s market, this lovely toned Peso in an MS67 grade would likely be about a $75,000 coin and in MS67+, the coin would likely be a $100,000 - $125,000 coin! So, what did PCGS grade it?
‘’Graffiti - UNC detail’’. EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO SEE (as no one here saw it), but to the immediate left of the top of the letter “F” on the obverse at about 8:00 someone (maybe 120 years ago?) appears to have lightly carved an arrow in the surface of the coin! DO YOU SEE IT NOW? 😱 😳. DO YOU SEE “THE $100,000 ARROW”? 😭 😭 😭.
This coin is the “poster child” for the adage “one must see the coin in hand to proper grade it”. It took my customer about 10-15 minutes of searching the coin’s surfaces with a glass to even find the Arrow. The coin is in the mail to me and I will also get to see it in person in the next few days.
THANKS FOR SHARING IN THE FUN! I guess everyone that graded the coin MS63-MS68 was equally correct. No one saw the “graffiti”. Thoughts on the PCGS “grade”?

I did see what you call out as the graffiti, but I can't expand on the PC/monitor I use so I thought it was a toning break and not damage.
Since you gave the PCGS decision, I'll update on my thoughts. At first look, I thought maybe MS67, or higher. BUT, I then went to look at the pop reports as well as coin facts, to see what other examples look like at their grades.
Based on pop reports, I didn't think PCGS would easily grade it 66 or higher, even knowing the realm you play in. Just a hunch.
So, then I figured they would knock it down to a 64 or 65. The graffiti/damage got me as, like I said, I thought it was a toning break.
I have family reasons for liking these coins, so it was great to see another nice example. Thanks
Bochiman. Thanks for the assessment /analysis. I really like the 1904 Zerbe USPI set very much. Original sets of these bi-National coins are getting harder and harder to locate these days. It’s now been 120 years since the St. Louis World’s Fair!
