1832 Large Letter Reverse half

OKbustchaserOKbustchaser Posts: 5,460 ✭✭✭✭✭

One of the earliest die states I've seen. The tell-tale crack barely exists.

Let's see your examples and watch it grow.

Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.

    I have Steve Herrman’s old example that he purchased in 1997. Then I realized I don’t have a reverse pic! Ugh…. 😑

    The question is… where was the individual who coined “Bearded Goddess” when this variety was named? “Large Letters” is a missed opportunity!

    “Fleshy Mangled Wing”
    “Shanked Eagle”
    “Losing Altitude Fast”

    EXTREMELY COOL!

    Q: When does a collector become a numismatist?

    A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.

    A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.

    @CircCam Severed Wing sounds like a cool variety name!

    Oh my Jim, what a great looking example! <3

    That was just the beginning for sure. Earliest state I have seen so far.

    @drddm's is rather early too

    My isn't

    Thanks for sharing this post-- the evolution of the die is so nicely demonstrated here. Very cool!
