I’m guessing it was an AU58. I’d call it a 60, but since that’s never really used, I’ll say it comes back as MS61.
Having fun while switching things up and focusing on a next level PCGS slabbed 1950+ type set, while still looking for great examples for the 7070.

I grade AU Details, as that's what it appears to be to me from images and video. Maybe straight AU58 in hand (I'm about 60/40 deets from video and images).
That said, I think NGC straight grades it AU58.

They'll give it the best grade they can, heck you're paying top dollar for their grade opinion, express! For a second I thought it was an "s" mint where AU grades really matter.

It's a "Gold Eagle" an will look nice in a NGC holder no matter what the grade. IMPO.

This coin could be anywhere from AU to low MS, details to straight grade. Depend on the mood of the graders that day, and the images don't tell enough to decide a grade - need to see this coin in hand. So I will abstain from specifying a grade and await DD to reveal and provide a description that explains said grade.................

Looks like it was cleaned. I'm thinking NGC AU Details. But...it's really hard to see. The luster looked "odd" as well....needs really to be seen in hand.

On the cusp of MS ....it's got a great look to it. Let's hope for 58+. That would be rare. Any + would be a plus with that coin. Except one caveat: NGC don't use the +

AU Details, wiped

Any guesses of 58-61 are technically "correct", and this coin is a perfect example of market vs technical grading. The NGC grade is now : MS-61
I purchased this coin as a CACG 58. Its prior owner actually purchased the coin as a PCGS 61, and this truview is probably the more accurate representation of the coin in hand:
Due to the high point rub, CAC wouldnt sticker it as a 61 and he managed to get it downgraded to PCGS 58, and it was subsequently stickered:
Then, he crossed it to CACG as a 58, and I bought it:
It’s actually a nice looking coin, great luster and pretty clean surfaces. I see that my video and pictures may have drawn too much attention to the hairlines/color. Dont get me wrong, there are a good amount of hairlines but they are omnidirectional, not indicative of cleaning. They are just typical hairlines and slide marks for a lightly circulated soft gold coin. I tried to give everyone an honest view of the coin with the video, but I think many guesses were influenced by harsh lighting the fact that the coin was raw, probably thinking that wouldnt make as much sense for me to crack out a straight graded coin. This is not a long term coin in my collection, and I felt that the coin might be more valuable in an MS holder. I was pretty confident I could get at least a 61, but I was really hoping for a 62. Here's a 62 on coinfacts:
55 guesses I thought were pretty harsh, the coin only has a touch of rub and it looks damn good compared to this PCGS/CAC 55:
As we know, pictures can make or break a GTG, and I wanted to see how everyone would do without the typical "glamour shot" truviews. Im guessing that If i had originally shared the TVs or the CACG photos, there wouldn’t have been nearly as many details guesses. Thanks for playing!

Thanks! I actually meant to give you and @Jacques_Loungecoque a shoutout for getting both grades correct, even though you were incorrect about what holder it came out of. You guys both nailed the actual technical grade and what NGC would call it though.
