    Hi All,
    I posted under So-Called Dollars with no responses so I am going to post here also even though it doesn’t belong here. I just recently purchased an extremely rare So-Called Dollar. It should be arriving in the mail tomorrow. It’s an HK-7A and since it is the plate coin I will include pictures from the So-Called Dollar Book. I welcome all comments especially from @Zoins who is an expert i this area.

    Its very nice @Gettysburgcollector
    Unfortunately, most of the so-called dollar guys are no longer on this forum. @keets would have been able to give you all the info you need, Im sure. Im hoping @Zoins chimes in, but he has also been away from the forums lately.

    Love it. Wish I could have attended to see your awesome collection. @MICHAELDIXON is a member here, as you probably know.

    Can we get some individual pictures of the 75th Anniversary medals in this case?

    Please and thank you!

    I was notified recently of a collection that was coming up for sale and that some extremely rare pieces would be a part of it. This piece just arrived today. Possibly the only known example and Confederate too !! The string is made to wrap around a coat button.

    Just seeing this now. Great new addition! And to have a photo of a veteran wearing an example of that piece really adds to the enjoyment.
    Congrats!

    @Gettysburgcollector
    Now you have to track down that banner hanging from the tent with the foot with "Tarheel State" on it

    I just picked up another extremely rare medal. This was worn by a veteran who journeyed all the way from the great state of California to the Gettysburg reunion in 1913. I’m not going to apologize for its condition due to its rarity.

    Love these personal items from the men who fought so hard to preserve the Union.

    I don't have too much, other than the commemorative half dollar.

    Here's a photo of the monument.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    My Gettysburg memories are a bit different. I was a very dedicated civil war reenactor and participated in the 125th anniversary reenactment. There were an estimated 12,000 men there. I served with the 5th US Regular Artillery working an original model 1841 cannon. It was the largest grouping of civil war artillery since the war. The smoke and noise was unbelievable. The sight of Thousands of troops in action was unforgettable. Some years later I became a tintype photographer and met this soldier who showed me something. When the movie Gettysburg was being filmed, they buried the telephone wires along the Emmitsburg road, wihich ran through the battlefield. After a heavy rain, he walked the line. He pulled out this little box, and took out a roundish piece of bone with a big chip on one side…………..it was a kneecap. He told me to keep it quiet because picking up and taking that bone piece was a ten thousand dollar fine. •••• at the 130th Gettysburg reenactment I used a panoramic wet plate camera to photograph the Picketts charge line formed up and ready to go. The image (expand it) shows the confederate line from the rear. Looking across is the smoke from the federal guns. Behind them, tens of thousands of spectators.

    Ambro, if Ididn't know better, I'd think that was a period photo. Really cool!
    Congrats on completing your medal set, Gettysburgcollector!
