A coin has come home after 35 years and I couldn't be happier

MWallaceMWallace Posts: 4,643 ✭✭✭✭✭

This type of blank is not easy to come by. I sold this one raw to a friend around 35 years ago. It was one of those things I have always wished I hadn't sold. We've all done it. I was able to buy it back today. It's happy to be home and I'm happy it's here.

Did you buy it back from your friend or did you get it back in the wild?

Congratulations, Mike. I have been looking for 3 Indian Cents I sold to pay Dr's bills 10 years ago and it broke my heart, I've never even seen any that closely resemble them and certainly not any of them. I'm glad you were reunited.

Are there any details on the reverse...or the obverse? ...whichever is featured on the other side of the slab.

You and me both...but I have come to the realization that I need to start parting (very slowly!) with some of them to fund others!

Is it a coin if it’s just a planchet?

You are correct, it's technically not a coin. I considered not using it in the title, but did anyway. Good eye.

Heck, it's not even a planchet. It's still a blank. I'd consider getting this reholdered so that you can see how the lamination looks on the edge.

I haven't thought of that. I might just do it. Thanks
