Sure!
While some coins have a nice skin, this girl seems to have skin so thick it's almost like an animal hide!! 
A new purchase that ISN'T part of the Keigwin group I was lucky enough to purchase over the New Year (although these images are by that guy!).
This one came late last week from Sheridan Downey, part of a group of coins he has from Tim Osbourne. Not a rare Die Marriage, but a wonderful look that was hard for me to ignore.

1832 O-107 (107.1), R2, PCGS AU58
Sheridan described partially as such (his emphasis);
Caky luster bursts through the attractive russet and copper toning. A superb, original AU58 with immaculate surfaces.

Beautiful original coin.
I am a newer collector (started April 2020), and I primarily focus on U.S. Half Cents and Type Coins. Early copper is my favorite.
We need more busts on coins.
Seriously though, that is just a gorgeous Bust half. If they were a little less pricey, I would definitely collect more of them!

Looks nice. I like the toning on it.
I checked and the two I have are both the small letters.
I still find interesting how some things are separated out and included as a major variety. This would be one - small letters versus large letters.

The 1832 Large Letters is for the O-101 and O-101a only. It is a fairly unique looking Die Marriage due to the pronounced die break on the reverse.
All other 1832's are considered Small Letter reverses

I didn't check the Large Letter uniqueness (O101 only). That may help it. Sometimes I can just look right past something like the size of the letters. So maybe why I wondered about it. Now when pointed out I can see the size difference.

Many numismatists apply the term "crusty", even when the coin is far from it. On the other hand, @pursuitofliberty clearly knows his "crust". In fact, if I owned a pizza shop or chain, I'd try my best to get him to run it for me. Through (and for both) thick and thin, he'd be my "crust" guy!

Would not 'crustification' be the process, and 'crusty' the result?? Of course then add the qualifiers, thick, thin, with cheese, cauliflower, Brooklyn style etc.

Ricko, Yes, you are correct, of course ... being the process guy I know you are.
Crustification creates the Crustified condition, often defined as Crusty ... but for some reason CBH guru Sheridan defines defines this as Caky. Hmmmm?

Mark, if I run that pizza place for you, we'll definitely do thick and thin, and we may even do some cauliflower, but I'm not thinking we should do "Caky" crusts.
And finally @TomB ... I gave you so much good material, and you used it so well couldn't stop laughing for at least five minutes ... but you left yourself open too!! After considering, maybe I better not go there, at least not here. I would probably get banned!

This is not the first bust half I've seen with what appears to be amber. I even had PCGS conserve one because of it.
What is this stuff and how did it get there?
I'm from NY so I'm fussy about pizza and toppings. Definitely no amber!

I had a Bust Quarter with this same possible substance many moons ago. I'm not exactly sure what it is, but let's leave it off the pizza!
Seems very stable, and not distracting to me, but if I ever have it re-holdered or suspect it isn't stable, I would consider having it removed. Since I have photo evidence from when it was in a NGC58 holder in 2008 that the substance appears exactly the same, I'm pretty sure we're good.

Nice skin on that girl! Like a pleasant sunset.
I have seen these little blobs from a clear-opaque to a dark or near black color. This includes a color similar to this one. I had a 1901 Morgan AUxx that had 3 or 4 clear-opaque blobs. Then one time when I got it out and looking the one larger one had turned dark but the others were still unchanged. I did have pcgs remove the dark one and it was successful but left a small mismatched colored ring where it was since the AU had some circulation color. This was an AU and was better than the dark spot to me. I have just thought they are some substance that got on the coin. I suspect that maybe the less toned area around it is due to a thin film from it on the surface that kind of 'protected' from the toning. Don't know that but suspect. It could have been on there for a long time. If so, then perhaps more testament to original.
I don't think I would mess with it on a re-holder as it might become more obvious due to mismatched surface color. But definitely if it started to grow or something which appears is not a problem

If it was a dollar I's say it might be Redfield peach juice, lol. I'd be more concerned with the darkened blob on the U, however the pics are blown up 10+X so it is the size of a pencil head. If it doesn't grow or change, has little impact to a beautiful, original coin.
