I signed up for membership at CAC back when they were limiting them and never heard back. I haven't checked with them for a long time, and I would have a hard time trusting others to send in coins for me..

Total understood but mostly ribbing you. That coin looks amazing for a 62.

A better date that I thought would get a 63. Maybe the spot on the reverse held it back?

I'll sometimes use MS-62 Saints and Morgans as bullion substitues. Sometimes even higher grades, too.

Hard to find coins in this series 1 or 2 points higher. MS62 is almost the most common uncirculated grade for the series.

I tried to sign up last night thinking even though I can’t submit I could still sign up…no dice. Appears their focus is to serve their current 3k members first when the new product hits and we can sign up later maybe still in Q1 if not Q2.

I like this MS 62. It has a good strike and luster without any of the distracting long scratches or gouges that most 62's have.

Great coin, Bill! I would love to find one like that or a nice 58, those are tough to find nice these days. How long have you owned that one?

Since 2009. I bought it just before I retired from coin dealing.

Guess they get much, much stricter as the value goes up. Awesome coin, I was ecstatic buying a nice under-graded NGC VF 25. Agree better then a lot of 63's.

Bought this 1920-S WLH in 2005 for $1000 off eBay. I recall the Sellers images were very small and out of focus, but nonetheless; I could see a very distinct split thumb, so I knew to purchase it. Never felt the need to upgrade, as I love the strike. I need better images than this crude digital camera image that I took 18 years ago, though. Also, might send her in for reconsideration, someday.

I have never been able to figure out why this was graded as a 62, but it was.

On the other hand, I totally understand why this is a 62. Poor thing is busted as hell.

Very impressive 1889 Type 3. Most ( and my 62 included) show a lot of abrasions, especially on the cheek. This is a great looking coin!
    Congrats!

What I see on this post questioned me about the relative accuracy of grading. I have DCAM come MS. Human errors are compressible. But I question if the standard change. New graders yes, they are, but what about the type of the coins, period, the way to manufacture, this change also?

Maybe some internal thoughts on this will be welcome. Sometimes I am afraid to send because of the result.

Example: I send variety which ANACS, NGC, ICG recognize with the certificate from VVS and PGCS do not??!!. A generation and visions transition?

I will like to know about.

PS: I do not blame them for this. Any company has generations transitions with good and bad parts. Is work like this. Absorb blames and loose to become more stronger.

This has enough marks that I sometimes think 62 is a generous grade.
