The sheet says it is worth $55.00
An MS66 sells for less!
I suppose the AU58+ grade is taking off in popularity.

I was in the bidding but only bid less than half of what it sold for. The top Everyman Sets of Liberty Nickels were missing that one in 58+ so I knew it would go high.
While I enjoy the concept of an "Everyman" set, I will never spend more on an inferior coin for points on a registry.
I am a newer collector (started April 2020), and I primarily focus on U.S. Half Cents and Type Coins. Early copper is my favorite.

Yes, the 1883 No Cents Nickel is very common in slider Unc. The rarity comes in with third party grading.

I had a friend that’s been hit by bots or fraudulent buyers lately. 3 fraudulent buyers in 24 hours. He had a 1921 Peace that was worth $300 hit $1500 before eBay got involved. Something is going on out there.

The funny thing is... Whenever some asks what somethings worth? It's whatever someone will pay for it. And if you have multiple people who really want it? You can get some outliers.

They do. I’ll be submitting seven coins. But for coins valued at less than $10,000 each, they charge a significant premium to have the coins returned by the end of the show, although you do save round trip shipping. In my case, each of the seven coins I’ll be submitting is valued $10,000+, so the “normal” grading fee mailing it in is the same $150 per coin as is the “Show” submission cost if the coins are returned by the end of the show, versus in 24 hours.

You think this is crazy paying big bucks for a 58+ for a coin for an Everyman set? Then tell me about the big bucks paid for the worst coins possible for lowball sets! That’s one I can’t figure out for the life of me! If you’re from my generation, remember Bizarro World in Superman comics? It’s alive and well in numismatics with lowball sets, where people compete big time for having the worst collection!!!

Exactly! And even though he accepted your best offer instead of his asking price, you probably paid MS66 money for a PCGS Fair 02 coin! Not to detract from this thread, but they’re wondering why someone paid MS66 money for an AU58+, not 66 money for FR02!

Thanks so much for your very kind words. I’ve found that in the higher grades Proof coins (which are allowed) are often less expensive than Mint State coins in the same grade. Additionally, a CAM suffix adds on for Registry purposes one grade point - that is, a PR65CAM gets the same Registry points as a PR66, but the PR65CAM is usually less expensive than the PR66. So those two strategies get more registry points for fewer dollars! Finally, not only are the Proof coins less expensive, but due to the watery mirrors and stronger strikes, in my opinion they have better eye appeal than the Mint State counterpart. Proof coins tend to look now just as the designer envisioned they would look when they came off the press over 100 years ago!

Makes no sense to me. If I was into that, I would just take a low grade coin bought out of a jnk bin and use it as a pocket piece for awhile!
Please do! I need a 1973 Ike dollar and also a 1974. Both clad. I'll pay you $500. for one, you wear down and make it into a PCGS PO1. I imagine these can be picked up for $2. each in a junk bin.
I also need low-grade silvers (71; 72; 73; 74, and 76-S mints). Anything below AG03, and I'll also pay $500. per coin.
