Help! How do I open this holder?

I imagine I'm either being dense, or not persistent enough and fully acknowledge my eye sight is at a stage where I don't see the obvious solution.
Should there be a ledge on this guy I pull apart? Just apply pressure to push one side out from another? Use more drastic crack out approach?

Should be able to pry it apart at the edge.

There is a seam on the side in which the two halves are slid into one another. Similar to this stock photo.

Not sure of the brand of your capsule, but this might help.
I think that is what the OP is. Here is a YouTube.

@ad4400 ... There is a seam on the edge where the two halves join. Use a magnifying glass, then an xacto or razor blade to separate...... Cheers, RickO
Thanks everybody. I guess I just don’t have the patience. Took the cutting pliers to an edge. Coin is now free.

I was thinking of a similar method, but thought you might want to keep/reuse the capsule.

I use several different types of those holders and mine have an opening hollow that is really difficult to see. I destroyed many getting them opened until I found it by accident one day. This enlargement makes it look easy to find, but it is not.

Edited to add. Here is another I have that has a so small slit around one side that you can barely feel but can learn to use a fingernail to find and force open without damaging the holder.

I would not recommend a jack hammer.
I always use a steak knife.
Just out of curiosity, “free” in how many pieces?😉

Sometimes I use a pocketknife if i can't get a fingernail in the seam. Sometimes if you give the larger holders a twist the seam will open up enough to get a fingernail in, too.
I use either a Scoopula tip or my Swiss Army knife blade to open them without damaging them so I can reuse them

@MrSpud those look like ribbon holding rows from a ribbon rack.

Too bad - like some said just a razorblade or knife always works without destroying the black ringed Airtite.

Those capsules are not inexpensive. A razor blade. Use your loop or any magnifying glass and the opening will be easier to see 😁. The mint capsules are good for practice as they do not have a small opening just the line on the edge.
