$73 for an ounce of silver.

A completely new reverse (tails) design was introduced in 2021. To give the new coins an added level of security, they have also been updated with enhanced security features, including a reeded edge variation.

Is this something new?

    This was on my list and I’m on enrollment but an 1879 IHC in AU55 popped up for a good price and I purchased that instead so I turned off my enrollment.

    The reeded edge notch appeared in 2021. It’s a new security feature on “type 2” ASE, even the bullion has it.

    Nope, theres a "notch" in the reed on the side, due "south" on the 2021. They moved it to the "sun" in 2022. Randomly move it from year to year I suppose. Keep the counterfeiters guessing ... until the year's issue is produced anyway.

    Unchecked my enrollment and ordered a 70 from a dealer.

    I have been getting too many 69's to bother getting many more coins from the Mint, and it takes several months to even get a coin back if I do send them in. Losing money and interest in the Mint game.

    I hope they let us know before they go on sale if we are getting the ASE S on the enrollment. That would save us from fighting the crowd at noon.

    I bought a 2021 Proof ASE as a type coin at the Lakeland Collectorama and don't intend on buying any more until the design changes again. I have tried to get interested in a date collection of ASEs a few times, and always lost interest. At this premium over melt, they are easy to ignore.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    I view all silver rounds, particularly the ASE, as ultimately close to spot in value - given the ongoing spotting issue.

    I checked just before noon, at 1 point they started the day with ~46K, then ~40K ... then they open the sales floor to us. So good, but not THAT good.
