Bidding going up as I type. Went from 2000 to 3400. Bidders 4 an 5 and it has 46 days to go. A long time for GC.
For someone into the slab history. Note: it actually has some description for it at top (and expand).

Me too. It's crooked.
It's damaged! Shouldn't be in a straight grade holder!
Looks like a silver slug to me also!
That is cool. I have a pocket peace nearly identical.
I would pass on it.
While reading the description, it also made me think that there could be a spate of such type handwritten ones flooding the market because the PCGS number is not valid and there would be someone out to con the gullible.

But would it CAC ????

Looks like many are willing to bid thousands of dollars for it...
Yes it is still going form earlier post. And still has that 46 days to go!

That's one of the most interesting pieces of PCGS memorabilia I've ever seen. $4000 interesting? Not so sure...
"You can't get just one gun." "You can't get just one tattoo." "You can't get just one 1796 Draped Bust Large Cent."
Not for me.... Well, I would pay melt at weight.... No premium though. Cheers, RickO
No. Not enough color.
Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value. Zero. Voltaire. Ebay coinbowlllc
Love it. Neat piece of PCGS history. Needs a Gold CAC sticker tho.

Coming soon to ebay...a newly discovered trove of these rare prototype handwritten slabs...

No bids since last Sunday but still has 21 days. What an expensive piece of plastic.

What did PT Barnum say?
Given that the rattler cert numbers begin with 1080xxx, this one's "prospective" cert number of 1146113 would put it among first 66,000+ coins certified. For those who specialize in the plastic, this has to be something of a holy grail. I'll bet that it has a way to go in bid activity.
Now listen boy, I'm tryin' to teach you sumthin' . . . . that ain't an optical illusion, it only looks like an optical illusion.
My mind reader refuses to charge me. . . . . . .
If that ain’t the ultimate lowball, I’d hate to see what is.
That’s just a planchet.
Can't be a registry coin for 2 reasons.
1. The cert number isn't valid.
2. The coin is basal state

I’m surprised that there isn’t some kind of verification letter that substantiates the claim of authenticity to be part of the auction.
"She comes out of the sun in a silk dress,
running like a water color in the rain...."
I think it would be easy to forge this.
It's all about what the people want...
.
you know if i found this in the wild, and it wasn't priced outrageously, i would think to send it to pcgs to verify but i'd have grave concerns about not getting it back.
how do you think one should proceed with authenticity?
Sorry I don’t understand why anyone would pay over $4K for a $20 coin that would insult better looking coins in a cull bin. You could buy multiple rolls of eye appealing Peace Dollars for the same price.

As regards to the appropriateness of this piece to a lowball registry set, there's such a thing as too much wear. If its dateless, its nearly worthless from a numismatic standpoint. I suppose the nearly $5K current bid reflects a combination of historical artifact and intrinsic collectibility of various slab generations and their antecedents.
Paints a very clear picture that we are in a white hot collectible plastic market.
2 weeks left and over $5K. I suspect the consignor is happy.
